TNEW Static SYOS graphic

We have a TNEW sales website with SYOS enabled.

My question is - Is there a way to supress the initial fixed graphic page that appears directly before the actual SYOS map?

http://ticketing.greenwichtheatre.org.uk/single/SYOS.aspx?p=52112

We have a small (400 seat) one level auditorium and generally have one seat price. The graphic page takes a few seconds to load and doesn't really add anything to the booking. It feels a bit superfluous and slows the transaction a bit.

Is this something that can be controlled from within System Tables or will I need to contact TNEW via Task?

Thanks

Simon

  • Hi Simon -- we have the same sort of situation. I've definitely asked this question in the past, and I believe the answer is no. However, I seem to recall hearing that this enhancement was in the works for a future version of TNEW (maybe at the conference last year?). Perhaps this should be cross-posted to the TNEW group forum to get a confirmation?

  • You can just not set the venue’s performances for SYOS.

  • Annoyingly, Simon, this is a fixed thing – we’re in exactly the same boat. Here’s some correspondence from a ticket I raised:

  • …whoops! Replied too soon:

Melissa Champ here. Thank you for this request, we have heard this feedback as well and have it on our list to be able to skip the birds-eye image and go directly to the seats. We hope to have this in one of our next releases. One thing that some organizations have done is display an image of their facility rather than a map. Here are a couple examples:

    http://ticketing.kcrep.org/_QA_/single/SYOS.aspx?p=7344

…I’ve submitted it as an enhancement rquest, I really hope it gets dealt with soonish.

    Thanks for the reply's.

I was sort of hoping that this was a simple checkbox somewhere, but I guess that both graphics are integrated into the overall flash / HTML5 sequence.

I wonder if it might be possible to re arrange the pages of the Flash image so that in stead of 2 distinct pages: auditorium image -  select seats map, we could have both on one page? (so on the left side the select section graphic, on the right side the select seat graphic) That would at least cut out the superfluous step.

If a venue has a complicated auditorium shape and needs a separate section selection stage they keep it as it is. But for smaller simpler seat maps, like ours, we can opt for the dual page. (?)

Might be slightly confusing for customers, but with a bit of descriptive text it might be a solution if removing the step entirely is tricky.

This actually looks like a pretty good alternative to the graphic.

Do you know how they changed the image to an auditorium pic?

...sorry - replying to the earlier reply about changing the designed graphic to a pic of the theatre

On reflection - I think you're right. Much better to have an option to skip the step entirely.

As I say it's not a huge issue but as our TNEW site is hosted in the US the additional step take a few seconds which is a bit annoying. As I understand it there's a plan for a European hosting facility soon which I imagine will help click speeds, but an option to go straight to seat select would be perfect.

  • Mmmm. An interesting idea, but I think it’s a complicated way to resolve a simple problem. And ultimately, with a split screen, you’re reducing real estate for your SYOS map.

Having the ability to make it turn-on-and-turn-offable via a checkbox (or an entry in a System Table) as you’ve mentioned before would be a better idea – or even simpler still, I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t automatically skip the birds-eye step when it recognises that only one screen is present in the facility. TNEW, over to you…!

    Xxx.

  • Sure; they just contacted TNEW when setting up the facility and supplied an image. You could probably just open a ticket if the facility has already been created by them, though.

  • Found this in the "What's New in TN Express Web v6.0 documentation":

    Updates to Select-Your-Own-Seat (SYOS) Interface
[...] Additionally, if a facility has only one screen of seats, the SYOS page can be configured to bypass the interstitial large seat map view and go directly to the seat detail view to choose seats. To configure this feature, please submit a TASK ticket in the Web Products workspace.

...wheeeee! Version 6.0 is going to be a doozy. Hope it gets released soon.

Brilliant, so yes, looks like V6 will have a system table option to bypass the superfluous screen!

We've decided - as there was a cost for changing the existing layout graphic with a photo image - to wait for V6 upgrade and change it then. As far as I'm aware V6 is due this month sometime. We'll upgrade fairly soon after.

    Thanks everyone!
