Hi everyone,
Here in the Perth Tessitura Consoritum we're talking about the ability to do triggered emails for abandoned carts. I know it was quite a hot topic a few years ago but I haven't really heard much about it for a while.
Who of you are using abandoned cart triggered emails, and how successful is it for you? It seems there's a bit of work involved to get the triggered emails set up, so is it worth us exploring this further based on your experience?
Thanks in advance
Nancy
Hi Nancy,
We do an abandon cart triggered email here at the ballet and as far as I am aware have found it to be very successful. I can get you some data on it if you would like.
Best,
Michaela
I'm interested in this too!
Hi, Nancy -
We transitioned our abandon page / cart strategy to Salesforce a year ago. In the last year, those emails averaged a 54% open rate and an 11% click through rate. (For context, Nordstrom has said that their abandon cart emails are opened at a rate of 38% on average.) Those engagement numbers definitely translate into sales, and the revenue is not insignificant.
Please give me a shout directly if you have any questions.
Hi Michaela - it would be great to see the data you have on that.
Hi, We also do an abandoned cart email. We pass in from Tessitura into the email, the product name that they abandoned, and in some cases based on the product that they abandoned, we will pass into the email a small discount for that performance. It is one of our better automation emails that we run. We will also take that Tessitura product name and put it in the subject line of the email as well. So it sort of gives that real feel abandonment like you might get from Amazon.com or a service like that. If anyone would like to see an example, just let me know.
We do it.
We send out a generic email at 6.30pm each night and we find it quite successful as people are usually second-screening, or at home where they have more time to proceed with checkout. Our customer service team are also available at this time to assist with any enquiries.
We have a ~40% open rate.

It wasn't hard to set up at all!
Cheers

- thank you for sharing your example. The 6:30pm drop time makes perfect sense, I like the wording in your message as well. And you're doing that through WordFly...or are you using some other form of triggered messaging software?
Hi Christine, we use Wordfly's Triggered Email setup, yep. We use Wordfly's standard setup but I have modified it very slightly to accommodate a consortium environment: https://support.wordfly.com/hc/en-us/articles/204768604-How-do-I-build-an-Abandoned-Cart-Triggered-Campaign-list-
Hi Susan and Jordan, sorry for the delay.
Our Abandon Cart efforts weren't huge in terms of return last year, we brought in just under $7000, $1558 from display. However, that's $7000 that might have been left on the floor otherwise, so we feel its worth it.
Hi
We have been running an abandon cart email through WordFly for a number of months now.
It has been pretty successful with currently a 45% open rate, 14% CTR and a nice, modest but regular flow of income. The real advantage is that we did some work to build it so that there is different creative based on what was in your basket, and then we have just let us run itself, although looking at it now we need to do an update as a few of those productions have ended.
We've also do a 5pm send time, but might look at slightly later to see how that goes.
Here is what it looks like.
Oliver
This may be a silly question for everyone who's shared their process here -- but I'm curious as to how you're actually tracking your abandoned cart sessions. Are you using Prospect 2, Behavior Infuser, Salesforce, or some other method? Is there something in TNEW that tracks cart abandonment? Just curious!
Thank you so much for sharing these examples!
Just wanted to say a general thanks for all the feedback and examples you all shared - sounds like we definitely should keep pursuing this. We'll keep it on our project list and may reach out to you in the future. Thank you so much!
This is great, thank you so much!
