3 Play Choose Your Own Subscription?

We are looking at selling a 3 Play Choose Your Own Subscription for next season.  The idea is to upgrade single ticket buyers into this and ultimatley into a 6 Play Seated Sub.  Is anyone doing this?  Are you allowing them to choose their own performances of the 3 productions or locking them into a performance (3rd Friday)?  What are the pros and cons?

Thanks for the Help,

Janna Ellis

  • We've offered a 3-play CYOS series the last few seasons with good success turning single-ticket buyers into subscribers.

We only offer it for selected evenings and introduce it part way through the season.

Our package page is here if you want to take a peak at how we've built it:

Patrons can choose all their own dates & plays at the time of purchase or delay selecting performances.

If you have any specific questions, give me an e-mail at pr@mtc.mb.ca.

We offer a 3 play “build your own” subscription.  We have done this for several years with great success (especially in our telemarketing room).  We have a “build your own” full package that has a  minimum of 4 shows that is available at the beginning of the subscription campaign and then once the season begins we start offering our 3 show as another option.   They can choose any performance that is available.  But for best seating we suggest they go with “any Tuesday at 7:30” instead of specific dates.   It  does convert single ticket buyers into subscribers.  But, we don’t always get them back the next year and most of them go into our full build your own subscription (of 4 or more) and not the fixed seat subs.

    Good luck!

  • We are offering create your own package as well.  Here is our link to our subscription page:  https://ticketing.mccarter.org/ticketing/subscriptions/select-series.aspx

A pro would be that you are offering flexibility.  A con might be that you sell a alot 3 plays and not sell more expensive 6 plays.

  • Sorry this is quite late after your posting but thought I'd chime in.

We offer a Choose 3 package where the patron can select from any of the 2010 concerts - regardless of venue (we're a touring organisation).  We did this by creating a specific Choose 3 mode of sale and having website development that meant that in reality the patron is buying a set of 3 concerts as single tickets raather than from a package.  The logic of the website demands that the web customer has to have 3 items in their shopping cart before proceeding.  The page can be found at http://www.aco.com.au/Default.aspx?url=/choose3.

Happy to offer more details if you like our approach - I'm happy to be contacted directly about this.

  • We sell a CYO as an NFS Package - the available performances are added to a performance group that is associated with the package.

The web displays the available performances. Because that display is dynamic, the Marketing Dept. can add / remove performances based on availability or demand at will.

  • We also sell a variety of what we call 'Patron Choice' subscriptions. We ask people to pick a day/time series and select their plays ahead of time. Once they select plays we don't allow exchanges to a different show (in theory, there are always exceptions).

You can see how a new subscriber would order this online at http://www.seattlerep.org/Subscribe/.
