Box Office Hours

Hi Everyone,

We're thinking about changing our ticket centre hours. We are currently open 9:30-5:30 Mon to Sat.  We were thinking about changing to 10am-5pm, and were wondering what other people do, and whether you would be willing to share the pros and cons that you find with your own hours.

Thanks

Melissa

    Hi Melissa-

Our regular ticket office hrs are 9-6pm Mon-Sat & 11-6pm on Sun….on performance days we are open 9am-thru the first intermission.  These hrs work well for us.

  • We used to be open 10am-the end of the first intermission.  Turns out it wasn't really worth it to be open through intermission, as we never had a lot of business but would mostly give out brochures.  Now we are noon-5:30 on the phones, and the windows are open till 15 minutes after curtain.  I've heard a few requests to be open through intermission again, but we didn't find it to be cost effective at all.  Best of luck defining your new hours!

Our main box office is open:

    Monday – Friday 10 am to 5 pm. . . and . . .

When there is a show, we re-open 90 minutes prior to curtain and stay open through the 1st intermission

We also have a satellite box office in a local bookstore and those hours are as follows:

    Monday – Saturday 11 am – 7 pm

    Sunday 12 pm – 6 pm

Here’s how/why we are able to keep our main box office hours so short – that is the one location where we don’t charge any per ticket fees.  From a customer’s standpoint, we have no parking facility so it’s hard to park, and we’re only open during business hours so it’s hard to fit it in over a lunch hour.  In other words – you have to REALLY want to save the cost of fees to come downtown.  And from a budget standpoint, since it’s not much of a ancillary revenue source for us, there is no major reason to increase hours at the downtown location.

    Hope that helps.

  • Our regular Box Office hours are 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday (closed public holidays)

Our Box Office and Administration offices are in the same building as the main concert hall the TSO performs at in Hobart. When the TSO perform here we are open the following hours

Weeknight concerts: 9am until after interval, usually about 9:30pm. Depends on the programme.

Weekend concerts: open 3hrs prior to concert (we usualy have a preconcert talk one hour before our concerts) until after interval.

Occasionally we have cd signings post concert and on then we are open till the artist has finished selling.

The Box Office has also become the main reception and delivery point over the last few years and therefore we need to cover regular business hours.

On the day of a concert one hour prior to the event we only deal with sales and ticket collection for the event. This is why we stay open at interval for ticket exchanges and merchandise sales.

  • Our box office is open 10am - 5pm everyday and we stay open until 1/2 an hour after show time on performance nights.  Our phones are open 10am - 6pm everyday and stay open until performance time.

We used to be open 10 - 6pm box office and 10- 9pm phones everyday, but after doing some research and data mining we discovered that we were spending a lot of money to be open those hours for very little return.  We also used to be open everyday of the year, but now state that our holiday hours vary so that we can close if traffic is slow enough to warrant it.

We have had very few complaints about our changed hours.

  • Hello Melissa

Our box office phone lines used to be open 10am till 5pm (non show days) and 10am till 7.30pm (show days) we found that at 10am we had a lot of customer’s very egger to get us before 10am. So therefore we changed our phone lines to 9am till 5pm (non show days) and 9am till 7.30pm (show days) we find now this works a lot better as we can deal with the customers a lot better as there isn’t a back log of people waiting.

Hope this helps in some way!

    Jennie

  • Hi all,

We’re open 10-8 Mon-Sat (if it’s an 8pm show, we’ll stay open until 8.15). Sundays and holidays where we have shows, we’ll open 1.5 hrs before first curtain and stay open until 15 minutes after the last show starts. I would love to hear from anyone who used to have hours like this, but doesn’t anymore!

    Cheers,

    Kathleen

Fri 9 November marks the start of Royal & Derngate’s Young America Season. Beyond the Horizon by Eugene O’Neill, arguably the first modern American tragedy, plays until Thu 15 November when it is joined in rep by Spring Storm by Tennessee Williams- a European Premiere and another first for Northampton. Plus- don’t wait for the rush; book your Christmas show early and then relax! HONK! The Ugly Duckling Musical is the perfect alternative to panto and starts on the Royal stage from Tue 1 December. But, if it’s pantomime you want then Northampton’s biggest and best panto is undoubtedly Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, now there’s something your magic mirror can’t deny! Snow White starts Fri 11 December.

    Hello

We open 9am-8pm Monday - Saturday (apart from Wednesday when we open at 10am due to staff training). Sundays and bank holidays we open 2 hours prior to a performance.

We are closed on Christmas Day.

  • Our box office hours are Tuesday-Sunday, noon – 6 PM on non-show days; noon – 7:30 PM when there is a show.  Years ago, we opened at 10 AM, but decided to adjust our hours due to staffing changes (we were trying to save money on part-time positions, which we needed when we were open 11 hours a day).  A number of the box offices in Seattle open at noon, and we haven’t experienced anyone who’s really upset that we’re not open earlier, especially since people can purchase tickets online even when the box office isn’t open.

We used to be open 7 days a week, but began closing on Mondays in July of this year.  We do notice increased phone traffic on Tuesdays now, but as we’ve adjusted our staff to cover it, it’s not really an issue.

  • Our Box Office is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10am until 5:30pm, Sunday from 12noon until 5pm and closed on Mondays.  On performance days we stay open until 1/2 hour after the first curtain.  We also used to stay open through intermission but found that we did not do enough business to warrent staying open later.  We have had no complaints about that.  We do get complaints about not being open on Mondays but we do not have enough staff to be open 7 days a week and have more performances on Sundays than on Mondays.  If we have a Monday performance we will open the Box Office at 10am and stay until 1/2 hour after curtain.

  • Like Christy said, a lot of us Seattlelites open at noon.
Our schedule and feelings about it are similar to theirs.

  • When dark, M-Sat noon-6pm. Otherwise 7 days a week, noon to 7pm or curtain, whichever's later. A few years ago we used to regularly be open Sundays noon-6, but realized if there were no show it was too low-traffic to be worth it. That said, I know any hour later than 5pm is our lowest traffic (phone or window) of the hours the box office is open.
