We've found the vendor referred to on this site re: obtaining IM v12.6 to be uncommunicative. Does anyone have a recommended alternate source?
Thanks.
Hi Chris --
We just purchased a new InfoMaker 12.6 license from TechXtend. Try contacting them directly -- here’s our contact:

That's the one we've been trying. No reponses.
We had the same problem. We sent email (it bounced back), called couple of times and left voice message to Margaret Ross - no reply. Eventually I got another sales person over the phone and could order the product. It's still under processing - not sure how long it will take.

Just tried to connect at SAP, and you are right. So many IT companies have the most awful web sites imaginable...

Thanks, Bob. We'll check this out.
The Network has found that CDW is a reliable source for purchasing Infomaker. Once an Infomaker purchase is made via www.cdw.com and processed you will receive details on how to obtain your license from SAP, including SAP credentials and detailed steps to generate a license.
Here is a URL that will take you to a page on www.cdw.com where you can select Infomaker for purchase:

Hi Chris, I have recently upgraded to IM12.6 and I used SAP but I can't really recommend them. They are a bureaucratic and unhelpful lot but once I've actually got the software, it was fine. It seems no matter who you choose, getting it set up initially is hard work but after that my contact with SAP has always been quite limited fortunately. A few pointers; Sign up for the SAP portal (it's a pretty ghoulish platform but they won't deal with you unless you do.) Sign up for a SAP passport (again this is more convenient for them, but it helps) Download and install their 'Download manager'. Ensure you accept the full terms and conditions which, for reasons best known to them, is a separate process and actually delayed getting setup in 12.6 by 2 weeks for me as the download manager refused to work but didn't state why. Pay for the IM software (£30 a year for us). I'd strongly recommend using the stand alone version, rather than the served version, if possible) Download the IM software from their portal and also the licence Pray You have my sympathy

We currently have three possible orders pending: the orginal one with TechXTend, one with SAP, and one with CDW. Whoever responds first gets the order.
(The rep from SAP said he couldn't find any license for us, though we've had one since 2007 and I could find it myself on their own download portal.)
Is this really 2017? No wonder so many order everything they can from Amazon. ;-)
They also have non-profit pricing on some items.

For the Canadian licensees, you can contact "Andy Osman" from TexhXtend directly, if you like. I found him very helpful and responsive. Andy can also arrange for the discount that is mentioned in the Tessitura v14 upgrade document. Andy's contact details are give below:

To wrap up my own thread, we were eventually successful in obtaining an InfoMaker 12.6 license from CDW. At that point we had to deal with SAP, of course, to download the software and generate a license string, a process that I can only describe in terms reminiscent of Sisyphus or Kafka. In spite of SAP's site, clearly designed to thwart any attempt to do business with them, eventually the process was complete and software installed. (For the last time, I hope...)
> Is this required for v14 upgrade?
Yes. Please see pg 36 of the upgrade instructions, i.e. "For custom reports and custom screens where the datawindow is created in InfoMaker, the InfoMaker objects must be migrated to InfoMaker 12.6."
The InfoMaker upgrade is required for V14.
We went through TechXtend, the entire process with them and then SAP is definitely more convoluted than in needs to be IMO.
Is this required for v14 upgrade?

Hi Shelley -
If you are locally hosted then you do need InfoMaker 12.6 to migrate all the standard & custom reports located in a .pbl file. You would also need it to then do any sort of editing of those reports as well.
If you need assistance with your upgrade or migration, Tessitura Consulting is always available to help, please feel free to reach out to us at consulting@tessituranetwork.com.
Cheers,
Heather
