Tess Sign On Not Showing

We are not self-hosted- we use RAMP to load the Citrix platform.  I'm having this issue where I can get past the RAMP log in- and Citrix looks like it loads, but the sign in window never pops up.  I can see the Tessitura logo in the taskbar- but the window is nowhere to be found.

  • Mike,

When this has happened to me, it is usually because I have switched monitor environments.  This means going from my in-office setup of 2 external monitors and my laptop to my at-home setup of just one external monitor.  For some reason something (Citrix, windows, mother nature?) wants to open Tess on the non-existent 2nd external monitor.  If I shift-right-click over the Tess Icon and selecte "Maximize" or sometimes "Restore" that will sometimes fix the issue and bring the window to my existing monitors.  I would see if that works.

If you are always plugged into the same setup, i have less to offer.  I will say, it occasionally takes an unsurmountable amount of time for my Tess to load at which point I usually take deep calming breaths with my eyes closed, count to 100, and hope it loads when my eyes open.

Check Citrix Connection Center to see if everything is connecting as well and 'hard' disconnect there and try again.

If all else fails, I do a full reboot which usually helps fix it.

  • Hi Mike, Jeffrey,

I have a support ticket open for this at the moment too.

It's been happening frequently (multiple times a day) to myself and some colleagues over the last month. The login screen either "hides on the second monitor" never to be found or it takes between 3-20 minutes for the login screen to appear. Support is troubleshooting with us and suggest either calling while it's occurring (so they can check what RAMP computer your login is trying to connect to) or making a note of the exact time that it occurs and emailing, so they can check that later and pinpoint the pattern. Support also thought it would be worth testing temporarily blocking printers policies, as Citrix can be attempting to connect to peripherals installed that weren't available on the current network. We haven't tried that yet, but will do so.

So I'd suggest opening a ticket for this!

    Best,

    Alison

  • Whenever I experience this I do the following:

    1. In the system tray, right-click on the Citrix icon and choose "Connection Center."
    2. Find the server that you're trying to connect to. If you're connected to multiple servers and not sure which one is which, you can do the next steps on all of the servers.
    3. Click on the server folder.
    4. Click "Full Screen". A message will pop up about exiting out of full screen by hitting Shift+F2. Click OK.
    5. Press Shift+F2.
    6. The missing screens should now be visible.

Hopefully that helps you as well!

  • For when it takes a long time for the login screen to appear, a likely culprit is your computer is attempting to access PRINTERS that you no longer have access to. The application often waits for the printer connection to happen before the login screen appears. Try removing old printers/devices you no longer have access to.

  • Neil, is this the list you see if you go to File>Printer Setup or Tools>Preferences>Default Ticket Printer?  Or somewhere else?  Our Client login dialog load times are comically long.

  • Just search for Printers & scanners using the Windows Search "box" and remove any old devices/printers you no longer have access to.

  • Curious here if this would include printers I have access to but are currently offline.  At my home office, my two 'in-office' copiers and boca printers are showing as 'offline' but are definitely not old and unused.  Just not accessible from my home.  And vice versa I have printers I can access while at home, but are not available from my office's network.

  • The staff person that had this issue (for YEARS) is not in today, so I'll have to go by memory. I think Tessitura can set how long it waits to connect to printers within your INI file (I think). You might have to be hosted by them to do that.

  • I talked to the person that had the issue with printers today and they said Tessitura ended up having them remove ALL printers from their computer and then re-add them to fix the issue. I was also most likely wrong about Tessitura being able to change an INI setting.

Jeffrey, if what I said above is true, then that sucks for your home office copiers/printers. It could be just another "pick your poison" kind of things. What would you rather do, have a slow starting of the app or unistall/reinstall the printers a lot?

Either way, I'd suggest opening a ticket in case what I'm saying is incorrect or no longer applicable.

  • I have this happen to me frequently as well.

As a hybrid PC & Mac users, I'll elaborate on the Mac side:

    • Tessitura login opens, but the only way to find it is to maneuver to the offscreen options--the F3 keyboard shortcut can help; or right clicking on the Citrix icon and then opting to Show All Windows. These don't typically help me move forward, but it's useful to see that it has actually loaded.
    • I can often get things to move to the single active screen by going to Settings > Displays and changing the resolution to whatever and then back. I can't say this always does it, but at least it often does. Sometimes, putting the computer to sleep and waking it up again does the same re-detection, but it certainly didn't today.
  • Maybe it will all go away once we can do everything from a browser window!  No more doomed if i do, doomed if I don't scenarios!
