I'm curious to see if any organization has a specific job that is, for all intents and purposes, a Tessitura guru. Not someone who does the SQL and back end, but a trouble shooter who works inter-departmentally to insure Tessitura is being used to the best of its function. Someone who, for instance trains new users, coordinates lists and mailings/e-mails across departments, does set up for ticketed events/classes/anything that is sold, works between finance and ticketing/marketing to make sure things line up. And if you happen to have such a wiz, what is the title of this position?
Thanks
For us that person would be me and my title is Manager of Patron and Operations Services (the Operations Services part is another area of responsibility, unrelated to Tessitura).
Hope that helps.
Thanks,Tal

You describe my position almost perfectly and my title is Database Manager. I also create and maintain all Access Databases at our organization. I do have access to SQL Server Management Studio to write simple queries which has become very useful for finding data entry problems quickly. I am not allowed to write to the database but occasionally I will pass code off to IT to build a report that is needed. My SQL knowledge is limited but the little I have can save a lot of time when you know what tables to dig through.

My role at Sydney Symphony is Marketing Manager - CRM and Database. I have a DBA that works for me, but I get called upon at a higher level to see that things are running smoothly with the database, and get out lots of analytics-type data. I also help with overseeing the large data extractions for subscription season and fundraising.
I don't do event setup or anything like that, though, because that has been the domain of the Box Office. But I think you'll find every organisation tends to to divide up its Tessitura work in subtly different ways.
I should add that in my previous role, I had to be the Tessitura guru for the organisation and DBA as well, which was invaluable experience, because it gave me a great insight into the possible ways data could be gotten out of Tessitura and helps me communicate well with our DBA.
Cheers,
Matt
That was my role in my previous job… Technically, I was the Sales and Box Office Manager , but I did all ticketing setup, user training, complex extractions, all front-end configuration and system management, provided lots of advice on Membership and Campaign setup, and I had full rights to the databases (though most of the time I was just querying data and running simple jobs). Basically, the only thing I *didn’t* do was technical upgrades! Like others have said, it was a tremendously valuable experience as I was probably the only person who had a truly holistic view of Tessitura in the organisation!
Kathleen

HI Matthew,
That is my position here at the Stratford Festival. I write SQL queries as well. I can do extractions and lists and that was part of my position up until a year ago. (They are now done by our Reporting Coordinator (ticketing) and Membership Assistant (solicitations).)
My title is Tessitura Administrator.
