Do you have a Tessitura Guru-like position at your organization?

I'm curious to see if any organization has a specific job that is, for all intents and purposes, a Tessitura guru. Not someone who does the SQL and back end, but a trouble shooter who works inter-departmentally to insure Tessitura is being used to the best of its function. Someone who, for instance trains new users, coordinates lists and mailings/e-mails across departments, does set up for ticketed events/classes/anything that is sold, works between finance and ticketing/marketing to make sure things line up. And if you happen to have such a wiz, what is the title of this position?

Thanks

  • We created a position called "Application Specialist - Tessitura", and I am she.  I work with a developer who does the SQL and back-end stuff.  My duties include:

    • convening and leading a team of power users (currently about 8 people)
    • training power users
    • working in consultation with key stakeholders (power users, a programmer and department directors) to identify, prioritize and implement all Tessitura-related projects (whether customizations, training, adding integrated systems, documentation, implementing Tessitura in new departments, etc.)
    • documenting, training and enforcing cross-organizational policies and procedures
    • providing user support
    • ensuring best practices and optimal use of Tessitura
    • coordinating version upgrades

There are several things I don't do.  Because we are a large organization with multiple marketing, development, website and ticketing departments using Tessitura in a wide variety of ways (148 users at last count, including the staff of a boating school/rental facility), the following duties reside within the divisions/departments.  This can definitely cause problems, but has also been the only way we've found to share workload and key knowledge across the organization:

    • coordination of lists/mails/email campaigns
    • creating lists and extractions
    • creating campaigns, appeals & sources
    • ticketing setup
    • departmental, or role-specific, documentation and training
    Hope that helps!
