gift unadjustable

I had a list of gifts that I needed to adjust. All of them worked out fine except one.

For some reason in the contribution editor when I hit the adjust button, the gift I need to adjust is not listed. When I look in the constituent's giving history I can see the gift.

Does anyone have any ideas why a gift would not be listed as adjustable?

Any chance it's a credited gift? If so, you would need to adjust the contribution on the creditor's account, not the creditee's.

  • Hi Anna!

I think I've also had this problem - sometimes when the gift is already "picked up" for adjusting in a controlled gift batch. Sometimes even if the gift was touched but not actually adjusted, it will get locked in a batch. Try closing the batch you are using and doing that last gift in a new gift adjustment batch (maybe even use an uncontrolled batch type - that might help).

  • This particular gift is not soft credited to the constituent.

  • I see this happen most frequently when the gift was created in a ticket order. I would check the orders tab to see if it lives there. The gift can't be adjusted through the contribution editor, but some changes can be made in the order. Depending on what changes you need to make, it might make sense to zero out the contribution in the order, put the money to on account, and add a new contribution with the on account funds.

  • I tried closing my current batch and opening a new one and it still is showing up.

It appears the gift has been adjusted once before. Would this have any effect on it?

  • Kristina that was the issue! Thanks!

    Problem solved. :)

  • Great! Glad I could help, Anna!

  • Was the gift created through a ticketing order? If contributions are added via the Contributions tab of a ticket order, then they have to be adjusted the same way; they can’t be adjusted through Contribution Editor.

Was this gift entered in a ticket order?  Contributions entered in a ticket order (either in the Tessitura client or in a web order) cannot be adjusted via the Contributions Editor but can be adjusted in Ticket Orders by opening the order in which the gift originated.

  • That’s exactly what we do when we need to make an adjustment to a gift entered through ticketing.
