Downgrade monies

When downgrading tickets to a lesser price level, what do you do with the remaining money if you do not offer refunds?  We've thought about having a downgrade fee and stashing the money there, but that's not our first choice.  Anything better to do??

  • Jennifer,

Currently we are mopping up the difference by fee. Beginning next season we will be adding the editable pricing feature to our exchange price types and adjusting the difference in the price so no money is mopped up.

    Hope this helps.

We have an Exchange payment method that directs to a small-gifts development GL. When we have an order with a negative balance, we just use Exchange.

We create a ‘downgrade’ payment form for each production. These house the exchange downgrades and come up on the payment drop-down so that the money can be applied to a subsequent exchange within the same production if necessary. Ticket value is also held in this way when a patron needs to release tickets for exchange before selecting a new performance date. This way the money can be tracked and remains attached to the production for which it was originally remitted.
