Is anyone doing a membership pre-sale for members in Tessitura using TNEW? If so, I'd be curious to hear how you execute it. I currently have it set up so that being a member triggers a MOS shift that allows access to a Members ticket, but this option doesn't work when someone is trying to purchase a membership and then register for a class. They have to do two transactions--one where they purchase the membership, and then another where they go back in and register for the class.
Has anyone found a better solution that doesn't require them to go through the path twice?

We have a TNEW customization that achieves this. If a non-member adds a membership to their cart during the presale window the customization triggers the MOS shift, granting access to the presale. Once the performance has been added to cart, if the user removes the membership, the performance is automatically removed as well and the MOS shifts back to the default. It works quite well for us.

Oh wow that sounds perfect. I don't know if we have the resources to create that (small budgets and team), but I'll put it on our wishlist. Did you have an in-house team create it or did Tessitura create it for you?
Tessitura created it for us. My mind is a bit hazy about the details as it was done many years ago but it might be worth checking with Support for more info like cost, etc.

We also do this by using the virtual constituencies that are 'attached' when a membership is in the TNEW cart. Basically TNEW assigns the membership constituency as if the membership has been completed so long as the membership is in the cart.
There was a defect that came up in one of the service packs that stopped this working but V15.1.16 appears to have resolved it.
We are using Memberships as Products so not sure if that changes anything - might be worth opening a ticket with support to clarify.

Do you use this functionality for a presale where tickets are only available to members? My understanding of the TNEW documentation is that the virtual constituency will only affect price type and not do a shift in mode of sale which is the way we limit availability only to members. How do you do it?

We have a TNEW customisation that does something similar - again it was created for us some years ago and is probably due for a refresh. If the customer adds presale tickets to their basket, our customisation evaluates whether there's a membership on the Tessitura account or in the basket, and if not the customer is presented with a screen asking them to pick a membership in order to proceed. If they try to get away from the option screen, a membership is dropped into their basket automatically, and if they remove that the basket empties (slightly clunky and punitive, but it's what we have...).
We offer the option to pay by direct debit, and the (separate) customisation that delivers that on TNEW only writes memberships to Tessitura once an hour. So if someone completes a DD membership to get access to presale tickets we trigger a MOS shift so they can carry on booking in that session.

You're correct that we didn't do a member's only presale & we didn't need to shift the MOS for our needs. Hope you find what you need......
