I am looking to if other users having issues with the chip readers from Vanitv. We are regularly having to restart the services on the computer to get the chip readers to work at the beginning of the day.
Anyone else expereincing the same issue?
We have the card readers and do not have this issue. We do shut all computers down in the evenings, but rarely have to reboot the card readers on startup. Are there errors in the begining of the day that are displayed on the readers?
Hi Seth,
We use the verifone mx915 chip readers through vantiv at our 12 venues and have similar issues. A morning reboot seems to help but there are have always been issues of the reader not responding or it moving to a "System Information" or "Land Closed" screen.
There is a tripos upgrade that we just completed on all workstations. Its too early to tell if that will resolve the issue.
Hi Grant,
As we prepare to move to new chip devices with Vantiv, I will be very interested to know how the new triPOS upgrade works for you.
This is a question to all in the thread. Do you use triPOS with USB connection to the individual POS computers or with TCP/IP connection using a server on your local network? Also, do you use Vantiv just as your payment gateway, or is Vantiv your card processor? If Vantiv is not your processor, I assume you are using First Data as your processor.
Travis, are you using VeriFone Mx915, too?
Thanks,
Ahmet Unal

Grant-
Thanks for the feedback.
Did you get the tripos upgrade from Vantiv or Tessitura? What version is it?
Seth

Ahment, Yes we use the mx915. We use the usb and use them as our getway and processor. You can hammer them down on the rate.

Ahmet, we use a usb connection to the individual POS computers. And we use Vantiv for everything.
Seth, I think you can get the latest tripos version (5.11 is the one we are on now). Off of TASK Version upgrades and patches. But I would strongly recommend submitting a TASK ticket first to talk about your specific setup before going forward with the upgrade. We actually had to install 2 hotfixes before doing the tripos upgrade.
We use MX915 readers and the triPOS software. Upgrading to the latest triPOS software was our most recent remedy.
We solved many problems on our own, but toward the end, we had to reach out to our implementation specialist and the RAMP team.
Early on, it was constant restarting for us.... and we had upwards of 20 readers in use and spread around the state of MN. It's been very frustrating. Things definitely improved toward the end of our busy season last Fall. Most of our locations are shut down for the winter, so we'll have to wait and see in the Spring when things 'RAMP' back up.
Before reaching out to Tessitura techs, we discovered many things on our own that lead to having to restart the readers. We employ Windows 10 All-in-One touch screen workstations. A few of the earlier remedies for us were:
Good luck!
