Hi TN Mobile Plus users,
I'm trying to find examples of orgs that are accepting Donations via TN Mobile Plus, but it's surprisingly hard. For the sites that do have a "Donate" menu item under "More," most are linking back to the Support pages on their desktop sites. I'm curious as to why this choice might be made.
Also, I noticed that when visiting many TN Mobile Plus sites, I'm asked if I want to download the app(iOS and Android) as well. I'm wondering if the apps offer features that the mobile site itself does not? Or is it just a Shortcut for people who expect to be frequent visitors to the mobile site (like Subscribers)?
Thanks in advance for your responses!

We'd also love to hear about this. We've been using TN Mobile Plus for a while, but are only slowly sorting out how we want to implement mobile giving.
I expect one reason people tend to point back to their main support sites is the reason we would be tempted: the ability to do a lot of custom, org-specific stuff when taking the donation. As you can see, our page is very complex (actually we have two pages worth of forms). TN Mobile Plus is not going to allow the customer to pick specific funds, set up payment plans, or input other info, such as gift matching.
Hi Lilaia,
We've recently started using TNMP ourselves and are accepting simple donations during purchase with a pre-populated amount of $5.
As for driving patrons back to the standard website, the reason that Gawain put forth is one potential reason, as well as the fact that if patrons are using the Mobile App vs. the Mobile Site there is a major obstacle. Apple is no longer allowing in App contributions, so anyone using the App with an Apple device is unable to give.
I think you hit the nail on the head that the App itself is great for repeat customers, whereas the one-offs are better off using the Mobile Site. One thing that I like about the Mobile App vs. the Mobile Site is that the load time can be masked by an image and you're not just watching three dots flash at you. Our Director of Development and our Marketing Manager both claim that those dots make them crazy and feel like the product is broken.
Also, I wanted to let you both know that there is a TNMP User Group on this site that I've found incredibly helpful.
Cheers!Short
It also depends which version of TNMP clients are using - we just went to V2 which has stand alone contributions as a new feature. While on V1, we created a dummy performance with different price types to catch he donation amount because we didn't want to link back to our standard site.
I don't think there is a difference between the mobile site and the app, you're probably right in that it is more a shortcut.
As Short mentions, contributions at checkout are blocked in the iPhone app but stand alone contributions are fine (well, I can add one in our app, anyway). I think most users use the mobile site but, if you are concerned about it, why not experiment adding content for registration/cart page in LTR_TN_EXPRESS_WEB_CONTENT, taking the user back to the stand alone contribution page). This should keep the user within the app.
The funds available on our contributions page are actually dummies because we use a plethora of funds which rely on where the patron lives (we present across Australia). I just have a query running every few minutes which updates the fund, appeal, campaign and source in T_CONTRIBUTION and T_TRANSACTION based on business rules. You can turn off ticket donations under 'Donations' in API Settings in the dashboard if you want to make funds available and use a link in a keyword to stand alone contributions as described above.
Our site is still a work in progress but you can have a look if you like at http://m.musicaviva.com.au
TIP: if you are changing the order of your tabs, especially moving one at the very bottom of your list to go near the top, change the number in the box then press the Enter key - don't move them up one by one or you will well and truly lose your cool :D
Cheers,
Kevin
