Hello all,
I'm having a dilemma with a specific section in our facility. Events in our hall are generally reserved seating, however there is one section, Grand Tier Boxes, that are general admission by Box. So Box A has 8 seats, and if you purchase 2 tickets, you get 2 admissions into that box but are not guaranteed any specific seats.
When we built our facility in Tess, (many moons ago), we numbered the seats 1-8 in Box A, but this has always been an issue since people who are unfamiliar with the hall don't realize that even though their tickets say seats 1 and 2, it doesn't really mean that they have seats 1 and 2.
Some of my ideas are to either change the seating numbers in the facility (to, I don't know, letters or something), or maybe try to find a creative ticket design so that seat numbers do not show in that section only.
If you have any great suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them!
Thanks,
Lesley Chaney
We don't usually mix the two but for our GA houses we number them GA1, GA2 etc. which has helped a little. We also use a custom ticket design that prints out Gen Ad instead of the seat number.
You could renumber the seats and rows to GA.
In my previous life at the NSO we had a similar situation where people would be assigned to a table, i.e. Table A5 but we didn't assign a specific seat at the table. We got around it like you suggested, in the tickets for that section we had a mask on the value so that if it was in the tabled section we would just not display the seat numbers on the ticket.
We made modifications to email confirmations as well as tickets not to show a seat number ( and a row number in some cases ) for general admission seating.
I believe that seats need to be unique.
I thought I quoted it but the above is in response to the suggestion of renumbering the seats and rows to GA.
When we've done this we first made sure to tell the patrons repeatedly that the section is a GA section. We also named the row GAsomething so it displayed that way on the ticket. And while the tickets themselves did have numbers, the physical seats did not. So theoretically by the time the person reached the theater they've been told by box office, and hopefully an usher that the row they're in is GA and even if they tried to find and sit in 1 and 2, they wouldn't be able to.
We have one facility that has a GA section and the rest is reserved. In that hall the “Row” is GA and the “Seat” is a number. We don’t always sell this section, but when it is available we have some customization on the web so that a drop down box allows you to select a quantity from the SYOS map.
We have another show that is using two GA sections and two reserved sections. Check out how it works on the web: http://www.arshtcenter.org/Tickets/Calendar/2013-2014-Season/Summer-Shows/H2OMBRE/
For H2OMBRE we needed specific ticket language so we have four different price types which is not ideal, but works for this show.
We are not on TNEW. We use Adage for our Web build needs. I believe they are highlighting some of their work on H2OMBRE in a web developer session at conference.
I hope to see you both at conference.

Also keen to her about this one - especially when it comes to SYOS maps...

Hi everyone:
I've scoured the forums and found a few posts on combining GA and Reserved sections in one facility that date back about four years. We would like to offer for example the first four rows of a facility as reserved and the remainder as GA.
Has anyone accomplished this with any success? Is this possible on TNEW? For example, the Reserved sections have row and seat numbers and the GA sections are labeled GA without seat numbers?
Would love to hear from anyone who's had experience with this.
Thanks!!
