Tessitura Friends,
We are on our first year with Tessitura. We use BOCA printers and we are about to print our subscription tickets for the first time in Tessitura. Does anyone know if it is possible to NOT cut tickets at all? I see a setting in Tessitura to cut tickets in between orders, but I do not see a setting to NOT cut tickets at all?
To give more clarity all subscription tickets where purchased in the Subscription MOS. Subscribers also have the option to add on tickets at a discounted rate. The add on purchases were processed through the Single Ticket MOS therefore there are different orders. Currently, if we cut tickets after each order about 14 will print for Joe Smith and cut, and then 2 more will print out for Joe Smith and cut because he added on a performance. I feel like this will take more babysitting the ticket printer. Ideally it would be nice to NOT cut tickets at all.
If there is a way to leave all tickets uncut? For example, I would print a batch of 500 tickets and let them fold on top of each other. From there a staff member would make sure the tickets are stacking properly. Next we would go through each sleeve of tickets and cut them manually after each constituent, fold those tickets and slip them in our envelopes.
Does anyone have any advice? Any help is much appreciated.
Thank You,
Hi Dan,
We use the print after each order function with our BOCAs here in Nashville. And someone indeed has to doublecheck/babysit to make sure the right tickets go out with to the right patrons. I'm not aware of a no-cut function.
Jeremy,
Okay great. I also have thought about cutting each ticket and using the pause printing after each order function, this way it is easier to keep constituents tickets in order and you do not need to worry about the tray getting over filled. This would just require a staff member to own and monitor this task, which is fine. I am just trying to gauge what type of process this will be.
I guess we were a little spoiled because previously we used a ticket printer that stacked the tickets on top of each other and then we just had to manually cut in between each constituent. Unfortunately, Tessitura is not compatible with our old ticket printer.
Thank you for your help.
It's been awhile since I've dealt with this but I believe in the past we've used a setting on the BOCA to not cut tickets. I think it was Micro/Mini setting and if I recall correctly Micro will not cut tickets. Something to check just in case that is an option.
It has been a little bit since I have actively printed batches, but I wonder if there is not something clever that could be done such as by cutting after each ticket and then using the control button and the header columns to reorganize the printing order by type of ticket so you get two headers, two receipts and then all the tickets for each patron. That would be slightly irritating in that way, but then at least you would make sure you have the right tickets with the right patron.
I am only aware of either all tickets cut or cutting between orders. We print with all tickets cut but sort by Constituent Name (alpha order) and Sequence so the header card prints on top. If the patron has multiple orders, they will be put right after the other when we alphabetize. We just know that there will be a header card in-between. When we separate the tickets to package in an envelope we look at the constituent ids printed on the ticket to make sure we keep everything together.
We also go off a list of the batch print (list of names/orders printed) so we can make sure that everything is there and that there were no hiccups where Tessitura sent the tickets for print but it never printed out physically. If the patron's name shows up twice or more, then we know there are multiple orders we need to check for.
I hope this makes sense. I would be happy to talk if you need clarification.
You absolutely can print tickets without cutting individually or between orders. I do it this way every year. I have directions for my BOCA printer (Lemur). There is a way to do it from the BOCA itself (which is what I do - lets me flip back and forth) or you can download the command to the printer. Email me for directions. amber@scr.org
