Does anyone sell merchandise through Tessitura? Is this even possible? If so, how do I set it up? Thanks.
Currently we only sell a little bit of merchandise through Tess (4 different CDs). But I have a vision of converting our Front Of House team from their POS service to Tessitura for all of our bar and dessert sales. That's still a bit of a dream though. :)
But for the CDs, we have them built as dummy performances. I have one performance for each CD type and I restrict inventory using holds. We have a CD price type for this purpose and a Merchandise MOS. So buying a CD is the equivalent of purchasing a ticket to a show. We also have a custom website and our developer was able to create a custom purchase path for these so it doesn't look like a ticket sale.
I know there are a number of orgs out there that sell merchandise one way or another. Some use performances and others use fees. I'm sure some others would be happy to chime in on their methods!
Hi Adrian,
Lots of us do, in lots of ways! I personally set it up as performances. For example, if I were selling company T-shirts, I would have one gigantic ‘performance’ at the end of the year, and the price types would be sizes. I’ve also set up performances for drink vouchers, and we also handle dining reservations as performances. I know other organizations use fees merchandise. It really all depends on you and your org!
Cheers,
Kathleen

We sell merch as performances too (books, hats, music – both CDs and digital downloads). One thing to consider are the reports. We didn’t like the report options for fees and we didn’t want to have to create custom reports so we chose to build merch as performances. It also gives us more options to sell online through TNEW, we sell merch as auxiliary items and use direct links to the ‘show’ page from various points on our regular site.
Good luck.

We also sell CDs as performances and have developed a separate purchase pathway online. A bit of a fiddle.
Can I add another question to the mix - we're setting up PAH but it's obviously inappropriate for merchandise! Is it possible for customers to buy a ticket and a CD in one transaction, then receive the ticket as PAH, and the CD in the post? Would love to hear how you've done that.
thanks

We sell concessions through Tessi. We set it up as one performance at the end of the year and each individual food an drink item are price types. I would not suggest setting something that big up in Tessi unless you have someone that can devote lots of time to it. Setting up a couple things as dummy performances should be pretty easy though.
Regarding the PAH, we disabled PAH for our gift certificates. It's under the content tab in performance set up. I'm not sure what would happen if someone bought a ticket and gift certificate in the same order though. I would guess that the PAH option would not come up at all on the delivery method page.
We sell merchandise online, some is set up on a year by year basis and others on a monthly basis plus we sell programmes for performances on a performance basis eg one for each run of performances.
They are all set up as a dummy performance so that we can report on them. We sell confectionery vouchers, programmes, travel vouchers and anniversary merchandise. We use TNEW and have a separate page on our ticketing path for all of these extra bits set up with an auxiliary keyword and then we can also split the page out into different listings for items to help customers find what they want with a mini menu using other keywords.

Could you please provide the direct link to the merchandise page? I couldn't find it on the website. We're considering how to sell t-shirts online. We are TNEW clients. Thanks!
