Good Afternoon All! I wanted to see if there is anyone out there that is finding success with scanning barcodes from a mobile device. I know there are many factors that play into if it will or won’t work, but at the moment I cannot get any of my MC55 or MC40 devices to scan a barcode with success on any type of device at any time.
Based on some searches I see that one person said they have had success with an MC70 device, but I hate to make an investment based on one comment. If anyone has any opinions on what is working for them, I am all ears! We implemented CloudTix a few years ago, and the sales we are doing on this mobile app have already doubled this year compared to our sales last year on the app, so I feel this is a solution we need to put in place.
We are revisiting our hardware and procedures to ensure we are ready for this trend. I would also love to hear procedures that you may have put in place because barcodes are so difficult to scan on mobile devices.
Thank you in advance for any insight or opinions you can share.
Have a great day!

Thank you for confirming that MC70s are working for you. That is certainly a step in the right direction.
I appreciate your time in responding! I will follow up if I have any more questions.

Hi Cathy -
We use the MC-70 and they scan mobile device barcodes on screen, however they are unfortunately nearing end-of-life support by Motorola March 2015, so we are looking to purchase either MC-55 or MC-75 next and I can't speak to their ability on that yet.
The MC-75s are reportedly more hardware/accessory compatible w/ MC-70, but we're just in the investigation phase at this time.
Hope this helps some!
Feel free to email my personally if you have any questions or want any updates on our findings as we're soon working on getting these new models in-house to test with N-Scan 6 (which we are already on NScan6).

I just received some new MC40s today (we still have MC70s as well), and the MC40s scan on my iPhone just fine. Don't forget that you may need to change the N-Scan DataWedge profile to enable the Interleaved 2of5 Decoder.
Has anyone made it policy that patrons can come to the theater and it is OK to just plan to bring your phone with a barcode.
If so what best practices can you suggest?
Have you done anything to how you deliver ticket bar codes? (Mobile App, Special Ticket Web Site, Modifications to P@H tickets.)
How has this experience been with FOH staff?
