Inactivate Lists?

Hi there!

After many years in Tessitura we have a lot of lists that are no longer used.  We want to keep them in the system (and not delete them if possible), but I can't figure out how to mark them as 'inactive'.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Alexis

  • Hi Alexis,

When you highlight the list, you need to click "Edit" in order to get the check box to mark it as inactive.
Another thing you might consider is setting up some sort of archival control group
that you can assign to hide things that you want to keep, and yet don't want to really see everyday.

    Edit
The archival control group would typically be assigned to a user group that isn't used everyday, like
possibly an system admin (probably assigned by default), or if you have some user groups
that are assigned a higher level of security, these work well too.

  • Or keeping on that general idea, create a new Archive list category and put all your old lists in there.  That might be a little simpler than working with control groups.

  • Thank you for the suggestions about the Archive list category - that seems to be a great solution!  Is there an easy way to move multiple lists at once into the Archive list category?

  • Not on the front end.  You would need to do it list by list.

You could mass update the category on lists on the back end in SQL Server, but you would need something to programmatically identify all the lists to be archived (like order creation date on or before a certain date).  If you can’t programmatically identify the archive lists, then you’ll still need to do it by hand.

  • Thanks for the idea Kevin!

The archival solution was pre list category so it might be a little out of date for that area,
however the control group also is useful for extractions, output set builder, references etc..
The ability for people to manage their own lists though sounds like a great idea, I'm definitely
going to work that into our system!

    Thanks again!
