Problems With InfoMaker License File

I recently ran into some problems with InfoMaker, and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered the same thing. Lately, when I've been trying to start InfoMaker on my own workstation, I've been getting an error stating that "The Sybase SySAM license was not validated," after which I'm presented with the option to reenter a license file. I've regenerated the license from the Sybase website, and even tried reinstalling the program, but nothing works to clear the issue. At first, my workstation was the only computer affected by this, but over the last week or two, the three other computers that we have InfoMaker installed on all developed the same problem. I've been trying to work through Sybase/SAP support, but that's been an exercise in lunacy so far. Has anyone else encountered this same issue, and if so have you managed to solve it?

I'm not sure how helpful this will be, but, we've found that when multiple users want to use InfoMaker on the same workstation using an unserved license, we have to apply the license while logged in as each user. I'm not sure why this is, as the license never changes, though. We also found (the hard way) that if we wanted to use a virtual machine, we had to access it through the console to avoid having to purchase a served license for each user. Finally, have you tried running InfoMaker as an Administrator?

  • It is generally a service issue. Not sure if you are on RAMP, but if you are they will restart it. If not, just reach out to support and I am sure they will tell you the service name.

  • Oh, yes.  I have.
Are you using Remote Desktop to access the PC that you are running Infomaker on?  That is the issue I ran into several times before realizing what was wrong and how to get around it.
Infomaker has an internal restriction preventing it from being used remotely (using RDP).  But the restriction seems to only be activated after a few months of valid use.  To get around this, you simply need to access the PC directly or without RDP and open Infomaker.  It should open and work as normal.  Then you can go back to accessing it via RDP for a few more months until the issue pops up again.  Repeat and continue.
I hope that helps.  Good luck.
  • Hi Aaron,

I just had the same issue after installing InfoMaker on a new server.  You do need to regenerate a new license file (make sure with the correct Node ID) but make sure the new installation of the program is on the same version of the license file.  My issue was that I was regenerating the wrong version of the license file (ex: V12.0 Infomaker, and license file for V12.5.2).  Once I generated the license on the correct version, it started to work.  I had no luck calling SAP neither, but I did find this number (1-888-715-4687) and they helped me out.
