For those of you on Wordfly and just had to deal with the IP migration - has it gone smoothly for you? We created our warm up plan, and WF signed off on it. We sent our first deployment on Monday (20K names or so) and it went out promptly, and had good open rates, and low bounces, but now we're seeing delayed sends and inconsistent delivery of tests emails. We'll open up a support ticket if it continues, but wanted to see if others were experiencing the same thing.
So far, so good! We did have an issue with internal addresses being blocked because we didn't have one of our send addresses whitelisted (to prevent malicious attacks).
Would you mind at all in sharing your warm up plan? We're at a bit of a lose because we have cancelled all our events so we don't really have any need to email anyone at the moment. So just seeing what we could do - maybe with staff, friends, volunteers etc?
Sure! Here's what we did. It's super-specific to us, but the frameworks applies. Wordfly reviewed this as well. Prep
We then took those four lists of 20K each and are adding them in, one email at a time, over the next four emails we send.I do want to flag that while our initial deployment was smooth, we've seen a significant delay in sending. Wordfly recommended we switch to a warm up plan on a scale of 15-20 emails every couple of hours which is, to be quite frank, not an acceptable or sustainable approach given the size of our database. We're currently investigating other solutions.
Thank you so much this. I mirrors what I had in my head. Could I ask what ER1, ES-1, ER5 means please? I wouldn't like to assume and assume wrong. But thank you. Really appreciate this.
Engagement Rating = 5. Wordfly recommends using their segmentation tool to identify your highest-responding patrons, so that's people with an Engagement Rating of 5.
Thank you. Yes I was assuming correctly but always worth double-checking. Cheers
Hello Reynaldi. I hope all is well. Today is day 4 of my warm up plan which I too worked out with WF. All had been going well except for today. What I noticed today was an extreme soft bounce rate if 9.4% or 1881 bounces mostly blocked from hotmail. My deployment was sent to 20k patrons. I have notified WF asking if they know why this has occurred. More to come. Michael
We're having almost the exact same issues - extremely delayed sends (up to an hour or more as emails are dispersed in small batches), plus a complete inability to receive a test email. Not a single test email has gone through to my work (outlook) or personal (gmail) email since Wednesday morning.
With regard to the missing test emails, we had to add our IP address to the safe list with our email provider. I don't think this was as explicitly outlined in the preparation steps as well as it could have been, and the further instructions in the Wordfly support areas are a little vague, but if you can get your IT team to safelist your new IP with your internal email provider, that should alleviate the problem.
Unfortunately we've done so, and I've added the new IP to my approved Gmail list as well, but still haven't received any test emails through either account :/
Here's the response I got from WF. I'm hoping they have a better solve, and I really wish they had flagged this as a possible outcome from the get-go. Thanks for sharing these results. After taking some time to analyze those, I can see that you are likely suffering from some deliverability issues with some of the major ISPs, especially Gmail that comprises at least 50% of the emails in most lists. We've written a guide that will help those being affected by this: Building a good sender reputation with specific ISPs (Gmail, Yahoo, Microsoft).
The most confusing part is that test emails worked just fine Monday and Tuesday - it's only the past two days that they stopped arriving.
So we appear to be having a similar issue. Our first email went out on Tuesday to about 6k emails and didn't have any issues. It had a strong open rate of 17%. We sent an email yesterday (Wednesday) around 5:30 pm to 11k emails and all of a sudden our open rate is only 5%. Looking at who has opened, I don't see a single Gmail or Yahoo address. But on Monday we had opens from both those providers. It's interesting that they told you this was about sender reputation. I opened a support ticket this morning and am waiting to hear back.
We're seeing some Yahoo but no gmail.Related-unrelated, I'm having major PTSD to The Great Mail2 Disaster of 2016, for those that were around back then. :)
