What accounting software do you use?

We are at a point where we need to upgrade our accounting software, and we are wondering what program other organizations are using and how happy they are with it.  What features do you really like, and what features do you wish were better?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Boann

We use Blackbaud, which is a pretty sophisticated (and expensive) program – our budget is about $8 million.  As a development person, all I really do with it is to run reports.  The reporting function is a little tricky to learn but you can create about any report you want.  We also do our payroll in house using their system.  If you want to talk to someone about it, let me know.

  • We use Sage MIP Fund Accounting, and like it very much.  I’d be happy to talk to you or answer any specific questions.

  • Thanks for  your input!  We are considering all the options available to us now.

  • We use Blackbaud as well.  While there are some quirks to it (as I'm sure there are with other programs as well) we are overall happy with it.  I've found reporting functionality to be very good, especially if you're working in a project-based environment.

  • FYI just in case anyone was not aware- there is an annual voluntary census taken.  One of the questions relates to accounting software.  The census (called TessStats) is available at http://www.tessituranetwork.com/en/network/Learning/TessStats.aspx
