Hi
I am going through our Gift Aid claim for this financial year and I have a few donations which I know are eligible for Gift Aid showing up as Out of Scope. I'm wondering what could be affecting these donations - whether it's how funds/membership has been set up, putting donations on households or something else? We're part of a Tessitura consortium so I can't necessarily see how everything has been set up in the background.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give!
Francesca
Could it be the payment type? CAF cheques and certain other payment types show as out of scope for us.
Usually, if we see an odd 'out of scope' it's either
Thank you Victoria! I'll try some of these things and see if they work.
What do you do if it is the payment method affecting the status and you know the payment is eligible?
Sorry for the delay, I'd look into the set-up of that payment type and check it's not blocking the eligibility. If the payment type is ineligible then the payment can't be, for example for us CAF cheques are always ineligible so even if the person giving the money is eligible, we cannot claim gift aid on that donation.
Is the fund definitely set-up as eligible in references?
Victoria
Check these areas:
1. The Constituent’s Type has Gift Aid indicator ticked in TR_CUST_TYPE. Depending on your setup, it could very well be that households have Gift Aid disabled.
2. The Fund for the contribution has the correct Gift Aid Type defined.
3. The Payment Method in use has Gift Aid Indicator ticked in Payment Method setup (Campaigns/References window).

Hi Francesca
Another situation that we've had is that if one person in a household has an eligible declaration and the other person in a household has a declaration of ineligibility, the ineligible declaration overrides the eligible one and Tessitura doesn't see any of the donations on the household as claimable. To fix this we've moved to recording ineligibility as an attribute.

Hi Ryan,
Thank you for your help!
It turned out it was a problem with the fund and the Gift Aid type. I hadn't realised that some of our funds hadn't been set up correctly with the gift aid field.
Thanks for your help!
Glad to help and glad that you’re back on track!
Best,
