Email as a channel

This is a survey - do your organizations use Email as a channel?

My Tess team has been fighting me on this for over a year now, however a large amount of our commitments comes via email, particularly from board and for events. Just would like to provide a list (apparently Email being an example channel in the Tessitura help documentation, and having a consultant ask for the information isn't enough proof that it is not only common, but a valid and necessary need).

Thanks in advance!

Yes, e-mail is a Channel at City Center.

It is used for many Pledges; our Finance office is willing to accept e-mails as written commitments.

  • At the Met Opera Email has always been a channel.

Yes, we have Email as a channel at PNB. I can't speak to how often we use it, but we certainly accept emails as valid written pledges.

  • We used email as a channel at Pacific Symphony.

  • We use e-mail as a channel here at the Guthrie as well.

  • We got some push back on this as well and found an easier work around was the media on the source. A source must be selected to book the gift, and the vast majority of gifts that come via email are in response to our email communications, so by including an email in the source media we can get pretty close to understanding this. Obviously it's not the same as choosing the channel (which would have a higher degree of specificity), but it got us closer.

    Hope that helps,
    Rob

  • We have an External Email channel. I just noticed that we don’t have an Internal Email channel but it would make sense to set that up too, if the request came from in-house. I think we just use a House channel for this one though.

  • We have email in source descriptions as well, but when we call or send someone a letter or they email because they saw picked up a flyer (may or may not have been outside sourced), and they respond by email, that is where channel really comes into its own.

  • Yes we do! Lots of our orders don't involve phones at all -- student performance reservations, administration requests, etc.

  • Hi Carla,

Yes we use Email as a channel - this helps us source the relevant email if need be (we pretty much file everything here) and lets us know what kind of communication the patron is comfortable with.

We schedule the Fund Activity Report weekly so it makes for interesting stats to see how much comes through web, mail and emails etc.

    Cheers
