Email as a channel

This is a survey - do your organizations use Email as a channel?
My Tess team has been fighting me on this for over a year now, however a large amount of our commitments comes via email, particularly from board and for events. Just would like to provide a list (apparently Email being an example channel in the Tessitura help documentation, and having a consultant ask for the information isn't enough proof that it is not only common, but a valid and necessary need).
Thanks in advance!

We have email in source descriptions as well, but when we call or send someone a letter or they email because they saw picked up a flyer (may or may not have been outside sourced), and they respond by email, that is where channel really comes into its own.

We got some push back on this as well and found an easier work around was the media on the source. A source must be selected to book the gift, and the vast majority of gifts that come via email are in response to our email communications, so by including an email in the source media we can get pretty close to understanding this. Obviously it's not the same as choosing the channel (which would have a higher degree of specificity), but it got us closer.
Hope that helps,
Rob
