Activities option to track the invitees and attendees of non-paid events.

Hi, everyone!
In recent gatherings, I have heard that many of you are using the Activities tab and associated utilities to track/manage not paid events such as free virtual webinars. What is the advantage of doing this over creating the usual performances?
