Recurring Donors and Saving the Credit Card.

We recently converted to TMS. We were excited to have the ability to save credit cards for online  recurring/monthly donor sign up. However, we have discovered that many donors are not checking the box to have their card saved. So we have to call them to get the credit card. 

I am checking to see if anyone else has had this problem and what solutions they have used. We can add some text the payment screen but we can't make it conditional so the reminder text appears on every transaction.

  • Yeah, that was something we uncovered during a project review to automate recurring memberships. Because of this, we are delaying the implementation of that feature until Tessitura includes a fix for the checkbox. As we understand it, the only thing that is available at this time is to message the need to check the box to save the card. 

    We were told that a future release (not sure which one) will include the ability to force the check box to be checked.

    I actually have some great news regarding this issue!

    We have heard from members that this was causing unnecessary manual steps to recapture payment info, and as such our developers are about to start work on a new feature to fix this.
    The plan is that going forward, you will have the option for the checkbox which saves a credit card to be auto-checked and hidden from the patron, based on what is in the cart/product settings in the TNEW Admin site. This way for items like recurring billing, they won't be able to opt out of saving their payment info (or accidentally forget to check the box). 

    We do not have a release date yet as they haven't started work on it, but wanted to let you know that it is on the way soon.
