Delivering a Great Training Session

Co-Chair Sarah Berryman's presentation from TLCC London and our first Onboarding and Upskilling meeting surrounding some great tips and tricks on how to deliver great training sessions.

  • Thanks Melanie - so glad to hear that's helpful. I've definitely found it the most confusing bit for people learning List Manager (it took me quite a while to get my head around it myself!).

  • Love the explanation of 'in' and 'Has' in this presentation - thank you! it used to take a Tess training video 17 mins to explain this.  Not sure how the current videos on this criteria operator explain it, but would suggest that this succinct explanation would be more effective!

  • To those who were asking for a copy of our Training Needs Evaluation spreadsheet, our Ticketing team are in the midst of making a new one and we're having trouble finding the original one due to some changes in staff and document storage locations. I'll post an example if/when possible! But we essentially use Excel to list out all the basic skills for a given role (e.g. 'Create constituent record', 'Exchange ticket', 'Purchase single membership') and then send it to each team member, asking them to select how confident they are with each skill. You could use a numbering system, a simple 'Yes' or 'No', or a dropdown selector with options like 'Not at all confident' / 'It's okay' / 'Very confident'. Then group together those who aren't confident on a given skill and do mini-refresher sessions when you've got 15 minutes spare!
