Issues with service pack update

Hi everyone,

We did the point update to v15.2.34 last week (we are RAMP/Hosted).  Everything looked fine in testing, and as it was "only a service pack update", I didn't really have any qualms about going to Live.  Ever since the live update happened, though...  users are getting a TON of daily dashboard emails, even if they weren't subbed to them (I have a RIDICULOUS number of them).  Support just told me that that's a defect with the upgrade process, that wasn't mentioned ahead of time, and that the onus is on the dashboard owners to check each dash and unsubscribe people.  And today, a 3rd party emailed me saying that they were receiving scheduled reports not meant for them.  I checked the report schedule, and their email address is not attached to any current schedules.

Has anyone else done this service pack update and had it not go smoothly?  We've all talked about the many, many issues with v16 update, but I (mistakenly) thought a small service pack update would be smoother...

  • Hello all. I wanted to let you know that as of 24 Apr, 2023 at 12:21 ET, all dashboard migrations that occured after that time will no longer have this problem. Unfortunately, there is no fix for you, Kathleen, or anyone else already impacted by this issue between when it surfaced last week and last night, other than what I described briefly in my previous update. As always, if anyone wants to discuss their particular upgrade issues, the best way is to address those by opening a support ticket so the team can work through the nuances of your specific problem with you.

We strive to make these types of upgrades totally painless, and we know how frustrating it is when exactly the opposite turns out to be true.  We are constantly trying to improve these upgrades, making them more foolproof and faster and deliver more value to our members, and this one got away from us.  Once again, very sorry for the turmoil this process defect has caused.

  •  We're upgrading all of our environments and I started with our test one tonight.  I downloaded it after the date/time you stated, but I would like to double check that 15.2.34.76797 is the one without issue..  Thanks!

  • I'm following up to get confirmation, Trini, but I'm 95% certain this defect was a process one related to the automations we run as part of an upgrade in the hosting environment.  There is nothing wrong with the files themselves and you should be fine with .76797.  I am confirming that for you, however.

  • Confirmed, Trini.  This will have no impact on your self-hosted upgrade.
