Hoping someone has a magic solution to this one...
We have imported our visitor figures in to Tessitura and I'm looking to show donation per head, so looking at contributions on a specific constituent against the number of tickets booked during that month. (Each museum has it's own constituent).
I know this is affectively mixing Seats and Tickets cube and Contributions cube, but is there any chance this is possible in one widget? Without me having to update it manually?!
It would be a Contribution Amount (Sum filtered by Fund) / Ticket sales (Sum) for a particular constituent in a particular month
All thoughts super welcome!
Thanks all,
Kirsty
Hi, Kirsty - Would it be possible for you to use the finance cube? It doesn't have ticket count but it does have ticket dollars so not quite a magic solution but maybe a possibility. Good luck!
Heya Kirsty,
No idea if the below is helpful, but thought i'd drop down my thought:
First suggestion - maybe this is something the interactions cube will help with when it arrives?
Second suggestion - the finance cube would have both ticketing amount and donation amount for you. But not sure if your visitor figures would pull into the cube
Third suggestions - which doesn't help with the percentages - and doesn't help if the visitor figures aren't pulling through. But could you put two widgets side by side - one with the ticketing data and one with the contribution data? At least you could then visibly see them closely.
Fourth suggestion - using the above info for figures and manually updating your widget. So maybe having Contribution Amount (Sum filtered by Fund) / then manually inputting the figure for ticket sales (sum) This is something I'd probably do! It's a bit manual but at least it's only once a month.
Hope something in this was useful!
Thanks Madeline, unfortunately our tickets are free and there is no seat count in the Finance cube, I thought you were on to a winner there!
Diolch Maddie! I am v excited for the interactions cube... potentially a goer for this! I think we might need to go with the widgets side by side by now and monitor, and then perhaps work out a spend per head for the month before manually. I may also look into custom analytics fields to see if that can help us out too...
I'll report back..!
Connecting donor behavior with ticket buyer behavior is in theory the greatest feature of Tessitura, but having tried to do a number of projects like this, the problem as I understand it is that at some point you have to make a decision about how contributed income is to be applied to each seat, and there isn't a "right" answer to that. Do you want each seat to hold the purchaser's contribution total? Do you want to divide it amongst the tickets? Amongst the performances? Etc. I think the fundamental idiosyncrasy in how questions like that will be answered has prevented Tessitura from providing a simple tool for making these kinds of comparisons. I think JCA tried to codify a formula for Segmentation Engine: I've been left doing ad-hoc SQL queries and then trying to explain how the money is being displayed for each different report.
Do you add a constituency to accounts that have visited the theatre? I was able to figure this out in my system just now using the finance cube and constituencies. But we add a constituency for each fiscal year for single ticket buyers and a separate one for subscribers. Let me know if you think that would work for you and I'll send you the screenshots and formula details.
