Adding a login to an existing account

I think I already know the answer, but is there anyway within TNEW to add a login to an existing account already in tessitura that would not have a login?

The only thought I had was that I could globally insert a login, by a SQL update, into any account that I have an email for but no login, with a generic temporary password.  Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,

  • Steve,

I will warn you that you’re still going to have a large number of duplicates created even though the patrons have accounts already.  They tend to dislike clicking the Forgot Password link and will just create a new account with a different email address.  I just found someone today who has created 3 different accounts online within a 2 month span.  We’ve tried to cut it down by automatically creating logins, but I’m honestly not sure that it has helped cut down on duplicates created online very much.  I really don’t think there is a solution for this when patrons can create a new email address on the fly.

We try to keep up with online newly created duplicates by reviewing the New Record Summary report every day. We find at least a dozen duplicates every day and schedule the merge right then.  We have a huge backlog of duplicates but at least we are keeping up with the new ones!!
