We have recently started linking source numbers generated by WordFly to certain Modes of Sale in Tessitura so that we can better analyze data within Tessitura. However, with this new set up we have discovered that if someone clicks a link into TNEW, the link automatically created by WordFly doesn't use the promo code that is associated with the MOS, but rather the source number. It still allows us to give the patron the same discount/offer, but the header/copy at the top explaining the discount does not show up.
For example, if someone enters a promo code, this copy appears at the top:
If the person clicks the link directly from our email, the link adds the source number in place of the promo code. They can still get early access to tickets, but the copy circle above no longer appears. It makes it difficult when we are trying to do student discounts that no where in the purchase path it mentions the discount. Is there a way to make sure the copy can still be included at the top?
Thanks!
Are you using source number appending?
Have you looked at the Full Review in Testing and turned off the tracking link. That's the one that adds source number appending to the specific link
But if we turn it off, won't that defeat the whole purpose of using it to track conversions in Tessitura? We would essentially be going back to what we were doing before and manually placing a promo code in the URL. Unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying?
Question, when the page loads is source/promo applied? If it is applied, when you refresh the page does show? Can you provide an example link? I can take a look later.
Hi Travis,
Not sure what WordFly adds at the end of the URL to place the source number in the promo code field, bu tan example of what it looks like when WordFly automatically adds the source number:
But when we manually put the promo code in the URL it shows this copy:
How can we make sure the HTML we put at the top of the TNEW page shows up for the source number too?
HI David,
This is just my guess but it might be worth trying. Forgive me if I'm telling you stuff you already know, just showing my working.
Promo's are just proxies for source numbers and it looks to me like the problem is that WordFly is generating a source code for the email (created when you add subscribers and saved in your Tess appeal) and appending it to all the links in your email. Now you already have sources attached to and they allow you to add a specific HTML text at the top of the page. I think that this text is from TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO text fields rather than the MOS specifically (from my experimentation the Prod Season text in TNEW doesn't change relative to MOS change).
So when WordFly Source appends that email (so you can track it to that appeal) it is overwriting the MOS switch you set up and not showing the promo text.
In order to have your cake and eat it too (source tracking AND promo info)
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Heath
