Contribution paths outside TNEW

Hi everybody,

I am interested to know if you are using TNEW for ticketing and some outside system for donations. Please let me know the name of your vendor and what you like and don't like about the product.

Thank you,

Matt

  • Hi Matt,

While we do not use TNEW ourselves (we have a custom site), we are starting to use Give Lively (www.givelively.org) for online giving, which uses Stripe for payment processing. Apart from credit card processing fees, there are no other costs. We used it for Giving Tuesday and are tentatively planning to incorporate it into our website to replace our current donation pathway. I'm working on a solution to import data into Tessitura on at least a weekly basis; it appears I'll be able to use the Stripe API to pull the data.

We like their ability to allow a donor to give quickly, particularly on a mobile device. (They support Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal.) It's pretty easy to set up multiple giving pages for a variety of purposes, and they also have features like peer-to-peer fundraising and text to donate. We are also pleased with their responsiveness to our questions.

Here is the page we used for Giving Tuesday: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/segerstrom-center-for-the-arts/giving-tuesday-2018. Here is another example of a form we are using for a special event: https://secure.givelively.org/event/segerstrom-center-for-the-arts/5th-annual-rising-leaders-council-fundraiser. Note that they offer a way to embed giving forms as well which we are likely going to use.

In terms of downsides... We wish there was more granular customization and options; for example, there was no option to suppress recurring donations and there aren't a lot of giving page templates. But, we don't think these are deal breakers.

    Thanks,
    David

  • Thank you very much for the response, David!

  • Hello David!

Does Give Lively support pledges and/or guest checkout?

Have you automated imports into Tessitura, and how hard was that for you?

Thanks again! I am really grateful for your response.

  • Hi Matt,

Currently, they support recurring donations, but not pledges at this time. The way this works is a person starts making a donation and then provides their info as part of checking out. The donor can choose whether the donation is one time or monthly. There is an option to log in, but it isn't required. One of their focuses was on making it as easy as possible to donate; there really is no lengthy multiple-page checkout process with this, which we liked.

They also seemed open to the idea of exploring some sort of interface with Tessitura down-the-road, such as allowing us to use Tesstiura web logins for authentication. At the moment, we import data and match people up to their existing record based on the data collected. We haven't reached the point of fully automating the import process, but that's what we're planning to do.

    Thanks,
    David

  • Almost done bugging you! When the login option is presented, is it to log into Segerstrom's site or Donate Lively's? It sounds like the latter. And if you have a recurring donation, does Donate Lively handle the credit card/charge it, and then relay the payment to you?

Again, I thank you very much for your help! I swear those are my last questions.
