Updating Price Zones

Good morning.

Is it possible to run  UP_UPDATE_ZONE_NO on specific performances? I know you can update it by season, but we'd like to make certain performances within a season have differently designated price zones.

Thanks for any input.

Kevin – By using the Price Zones Tab in Season Maint what happens if I paint a price zone that doesn’t have any prices associated with it?  Does this only work if I am changing which seats belong to which ever zones already have prices?

I think you have it all sorted out now, but I thought I’d summarize the options just to be sure:

    1.       Edit zone maps for a facility in Facility Manager.  When you do this the change applies to all new performances added after the change and if you run the update scripts it applies to all existing performances using that zone map.

    2.       Edit the zones for performances in Season Manager.  When you do this the change applies only to the edited performances.  No update scripts need to be run.

One caution about editing your zones.  If you have SYOS on your website, some SYOS maps can be broken by editing your zone maps.  Before you make an edit, check with your web developer to see if such a change will work with the way your SYOS map was built.

Also, Brian, I love that you tried to add a link to a topic in the new help system, but unfortunately the link didn’t go to the topic you intended.  Copying the address you see in the address bar when the help system is open usually won’t work (it doesn’t change as you navigate to different topics).  If you, or anyone else, would like to share a link to a topic in the new online help system here are the steps:

    1.       Open the help system.

    2.       Find the topic you want in the TOC.

    3.       Right click on that TOC entry and select Copy Link Location or Copy Shortcut (the option you see depends on the browser you are using).

    4.       Paste the link into your forum post or email.

To demonstrate, here’s the link to the topic I think Brian was shooting for: http://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System/Content/Season%20Maintenance/Season%20Maintenance%20Price%20Zones.htm.

I think this would work but none of the seats would be available (which might be what's desired in your example?) like if you have a zone that's disabled on every active pmap?

This might not be true any more, but I'm pretty sure in the past when I created a brand new zone it subsequently existed on all pmaps for the zmap, and was both enabled and set to zero. I think I found that out through testing so before adding the zone in live I had a script at the ready to run immediately and set the not-on-sale-ind for that new zone to N for every pmap, and then went back later with a different script to update the zone to appropriate prices on relevant maps and reactivate the zone when necessary. Might have been overkill since no seats would've had the zone yet, but I liked the security of doing it to all pmaps for that zmap so I didn't have to worry later after the seats were zoned about having missed one, or about if a formerly-not-in-use pmap suddenly went into use and maybe hadn't been updated. But I'm paranoid.
