Open Call ticketing

Hello,

Our theatre allows subscribers that cannot make a night of a show to exchange, but if they don't know what night they CAN make it, we allow them to exchange into something called "Open Call".  In our last database, this was a fake show at the end of the run the folks would exchange into.  When they finally decided what show they wanted, they exchanged out and back in.

I'm trying to keep the number of "fake" performances to a minimum, so I'm wondering if any other theatre's do this "open call" type of exchange and how they handle it.  We don't have many conditions, but one of the few we do have is that if the subscriber never picks a show, the income must stay with the show - thus a fake show of each production that they would exchange into.

My first suggestion was a new zone in the house called "open call" that they could exchange into, similar to "standby".  Any other avenues anyone is currently using?

Thanks!

  • Thanks Lucie,

So what do you do with the income on account if they never exchange back into the show? Use it to buy a fake ticket?

I haven't tried this, but what about setting up an on account payment type for the show the patron is switching out of?
