Signed Interpreters

Hello...

We have a few questions regarding signed interpreted performances and wanted to reach out to the forum to see how other handle them.

1 - do you have a pre-determined date or do you only offer a signed performance when requested

2 - do the signers stand on stage near the curtain or on the floor to the sides (house left or right)

3 - do you allow the locations to be able to be purchased online, if so, how

If you have any other advice or guidance it's much appreciated.

Thanks!

  • Ashley,

We have a specific Sunday Matinee series that’s designated as our signed performance – we offer this for all of our shows.

Our signers stand on the floor – depending on which of our theatres they’re in, they could be house right or house left (they also sometimes have to switch sides if there are entrances/exits, scenery, etc. on their normal side – if this happens we obviously move any patrons, as well)

We do allow these to be purchased online through offers and allocations. You can check it out here:  www.seattlerep.org/promo/asl

We have a link to this page on our website, on our accessibility page.  People can go there directly and buy tickets.

We also have a dedicated email address that people can send to (boxofficeasl@seattlerep.org) if they need help purchasing, or have questions related to sign-interpreted performances or offerings.

    HTH,

    Ashley,

We offer 2 ASL interpreted and 2 Audio Described performances for each of our produced shows, and usually one of each for visiting productions/studio shows. We have price types for each and patrons using these services, plus one companion, receive a pretty generous discount. Students of ASL also receive the discount. We also sell ASL and AD season packages. We have a designated Accessibility Manager who works closely with these communities.

Our interpreters stand on the floor in front of the ASL-designated section.

These are currently not available online but I believe that is in the works.
