Discounting Gift Vouchers

We did this type of promotion before but for finance purposes we need to offset the cost out of our own budget. the idea of "no one gets a free lunch" kind of applies in this case. We ran the promo as anyone who purchases X amount between a set dates will get a Y amount gift card mailed to them separately. once the promotion was done we pulled a list of who qualified and paid for the Y gift card and mailed to them. what was nice about this is if you are doing this for the holidays but you want the gift certificate to go to future purchases you can say the gift certificate will be sent in January or something. at the time we were doing automatically emailed gift certificates which made it a bit easier to process on our end as well. I don't believe this was the answer you were looking for but hopefully it helps a bit.
