Exchanging Unprinted Orders in the Original Order Screen vs. New Order Screen

Hello!
I saw on Tessitura's documentation that they recommend doing exchanges in a new order window, rather than the original order. However, we can't exchange unprinted tickets, so we have to open up the original order to print them to a dummy printer. We then complete the exchange in the original order screen. Do others do this as well? Has anyone noticed a difference in reporting or data management between these two practices?
Thank you!

  • Hi!
We exchange tickets in new orders. If tickets are unprinted, we usually just delete that line item and replace it with the desired performance. I honestly prefer processing exchanges in a new order, as it’s easier to read and understand what’s going on with the order at a quick glance. It’s also nice to be in the habit of exchanging in new orders, as we also receive requests to donate tickets, and we always want donations to be processed in a new order. There have been some cases where whole subscriptions have been donated rather than just a single ticket, so processing transactions in a new order is just a good habit we want to instill.

  • Hi, We also exchange printed tickets in new orders.
Because we use the same pricetype for the exchange, the money stays in the same GL and does not affect reports that I have notice.

For unprinted packages for the upcoming season we use an “Advanced Exchange” package which is a flex package.  We enter the new date and seat.  Then delete the individual perf being exchanged out of the package.  This helps with subscribers receiving their season tickets and exchanges all at once.  Also because there is already a base seat, removing one or two perfs does not interfere with my rollover.
