Allocations

We are about to do one of our first Allocations which will be available on our website, over the phone and at the Box Office.  We have an "Allocation" Mode of Sale ready to use but is it possible to have the Allocation available on the Internet, Phone and Window Modes of Sale without losing the capability to have these Modes of Sale available for other performances?

Thank you very much!

You want “Bad Seats” Allocation linked to your “Promotional Web” MOS.  (This is the only allocation to this MOS.)

And on your regular Web MOS you want to have both “Bad Seats” Allocation and your “Unassigned” Allocation.

I do this all the time for Web Comp offers that I would love to sell at full price, but allocate to a “Web Comp” MOS so that there is a limit on the comps.

    Hi Nicole,

I really appreciate all of your help!  The first two things you suggested are fine, it's the third that might be my problem.  My promotion allocation is linked to my discount mode of sale, but it's also linked to my default box office and web modes of sale.  I did this because I want these seats available to the general public, not just to the patrons with the promo code.  So do you think this will only work if I only have it linked with one mode of sale?  And if so, is there a way to avoid this?  We'd like to offer our "bad" seats for a promotion, but we also want to be sure they are available to the general public as well.

    Thank you!

Ok, so let’s say you have a MOS called “Discount”  which has and Allocation called “Promotion” and you want “Discount” to access the “$10 off” Price Type which is linked in TX_MOS_PRICETYPE.  If you want the only Allocation to be available for “Discount” MOS to be “Promotion” you can connect the two in Allocation Codes Maintenance in Facility Manager, but let’s say you want “Web” MOS to be able to purchase from “Unassigned” Allocation, or “Discount” Allocation, you can link both of them in Allocation Codes Maintenance as well.

Here are a few things to check:

Did you update TR_WEB_PROMO_CODE to link the Promo Code and Source Number?

Are the dates for your Source currently active?

Is the ONLY Allocation linked to your promotional web MOS the one you want for this offer?

That’s all I can think of for now…I’m dying to hear what it is…

Thanks!  This is working how I want it to by phone, however I'm still having some difficulty with the allocations on the web.  I connected the promo code to my new MOS in TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO so that once the promo code is entered the MOS should switch.  But when I enter it on the website all of the seats are still showing.  We are already using Offers for our web MOS, and I tried using an offer for my new MOS as well but that also didn't work.  Any advice?

You can have an Allocation linked to multiple MOS.

    Kevin,

That is very helpful - thank you!  However, now that I have the seats allocated for that particular promotion, then patrons without the promotion are not able to access those seats.  If someone is using our default MOS either by phone or web then those seats aren't available.  How do I allocate the seats for the promo, but also make them available for general sale?

    Thanks!

It’s all based on which modes of sale you associate with the allocation code.  So if you want the general public to be able to buy any seats, including the allocated ones, but the promo people to ONLY be able to buy the allocated seats, associate the allocation code with the default Web MOS and the promo MOS.  Then DO NOT associate the promo MOS with the Unassigned allocation code.  That second step is key.  By not associating the promo MOS with the unassigned allocation code, unallocated seats will not be available in the promo MOS.  The only seats that will be available are the ones you allocated for that group.

Does that describe what you are looking to do?
