Scanning barcodes to record attendance

Hello everyone,

We've got a brand spanking new barcode scanner and are going to hopefully use it for recording attendance.

In the record attendance screen, however, when I try and scan a barcode it enters (what I think is) the N-Scan number, rather than the ticket number.

Can you help?  Do we need a different barcode on the tickets?  We'd quite like the N-Scan barcode just in case we ever decide to use Access control.

Many thanks

  • Has anyone been able to mark a ticket as unattended outside of NScan.

We have scanned the ticket out in NScan, but it is still showing as attended on the patron's account and in the seat map.

  • Scanning a ticket out does not update the Attended status because the underlying assumption is that they're only "out" temporarily (e.g. to make a phone call, have a cigarette, run to the car etc.) and will be returning. As far as Tessitura is concerned, there's only one write from N-Scan to the seat history, and that's for the initial scan in.

If you wanted to reflect that a patron had left the performance, you would actually have to return the seat in the Tessitura client to update the status from Attended.

  • Jonathan,

I know you originally posted this reply in September of 2010, but has anything changed in the functionality of NScan in regards to scanning guests out and the tracking of this information in Tessitura.  We allow guests to do a past date exchange day of if we have availability and once in a blue moon a guest arrives and gets scanned in, but then decides to past date rather than wait for the next late seating cue.  In these situation we would love for it to be notated in the history of scanning them back out so that the box office was able to check this in the history before performing a past date exchange.  Is there another way to show this in Tessitura without returning the ticket, besides doing a CSI?

    Hope you are well.

    Thanks,

    Rich
