Hello!
Does anyone else use source codes for discounts? What is the benefit of providing a discount through a source code rather than through 'discounts'? I'd like to know how many other organizations do this and am curious if you've found it helpful or burdensome on front-line staff (particularly with the number of course codes your org uses).
Thanks in advance!
For me (in a frew organisation) the main reason was that most of the bookings were coming in online. The primary way of delivering marketing related discounts and special access online for TNEW v6 was source codes and MOS switching. For analysis it was simpler to keep track of the discount through it's source code with both channels (online and F2F) and in most cases it was the Source that was the primary thing we wanted to analyse. We didn't find it a burden (I was a front line staff often) as the promo is usually marketed to them. At one org the Promos were listed in the Perf Details &/or Performance Custom tab.In another org we had a great shared doc of Promo/Source by Production Season. Also kept the Marketing Team and the Box Office team together knowing what each other was doing to maximise revenue.Personally I'd much prefer to analyse discounts from distinct Price types that teasing out discounts within a PT.
This makes sense - thank you Heath! My reservation is that we will create too many source codes (our marketing team is going to want to do a lot with the source codes for tracking purposes) and it will become overwhelming for front-line staff. I'm glad that you don't feel like that's the case! This helps - thank you very much!
If you want I can send you our sheet. You can see if that works for you. Even my most complainy of staff got on board
That would be fantastic, Heath! You can send to alegg@nationalvmm.org if you are willing - thanks!!!
