Hello!
We have a guest artist coming in the spring who has quite a complicated build. They will have standard pricing with aisle lifts, an external promoter fee, VIP packages (also with aisle lifts) and Platinum seating. We also will be charging our 10% per ticket fee and we have a standard $3 facility fee we build into all tickets. Any recommendations on how to build this as one event? I think we could pull it off as three separate events (this would theoretically be the easiest way to report for settlement with the promoter), but we're hoping there's a better way to do this.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
Hi Madison!
Do the VIP packages and Platinum seating have specific locations for the seats or is it an add on to the ticket? Is your venue reserved or GA?
Hi Jordan!
The VIP packages and Platinum seating both have specific seating locations. Our venue is completely reserved.
Alrighty, I would suggest creating a new zone map for the event within the venue you are using to designate specific locations of those price types. Then, when you set up pricing, you'll just want to disable any zones not within the vip or platinum pricing for the price types you use for them. Does that make sense?

Here is an example of the pricing set up for that same instance for something we are doing here. Not the prettiest thing, but it works for complicated builds.
I'd think about using allocations for VIP Packages. Platinum seating I've always had as a Zone (depending on what it's bundled with if anything).Re reporting I'm assuming you want to send them the net sales without your inside charge Fac Fee Layer and 10% (and I'm assuming they are layers). It's pretty simple in Analytics.
Heath,
Thanks for the suggestions. I understand creating Platinum and VIP as zones and I know how to break everything out in Analytics. The problem is that many promoters like to settle night of the show, and Analytics doesn't update in real-time. We've been trying to work with standard reporting, which has made settlements a little complicated. We can track everything down, but a lot of promoters prefer to have everything in one report.
ahh I see. If it was me I'd adjust our Ticket Sales reports Price layer inclusions but that's a little SSRS report customization.
Jordan,
Yes! That does make sense. I'll see if I can work with that, too.
Thanks!
Ah yes, that makes sense. I might try contacting Support to see if there is anything they can put together for us. Thanks!
Do you have access to the Performance Revenue Breakdown report? That is what we use, and it breaks things out exactly as we need it to. It also allows you to only include certain price layers. It should be located in the Ticketing Box Office report folder.
Ah, that's pretty nifty. I do have access, but we had not been using it previously (this is our first year using Tessitura, so we're still figuring everything out!). I'll show this to my manager to see if this might be a good way to settle with promoters in real time. I think we might end up needing a custom report to be created so that everything can be nicely represented in one report, but until then, this might do the trick. Thank you so much for your suggestions!
