We are looking for a point-of-sale system for concessions and merchandise sales that works seamlessly with Tessitura. We would like a system that could tie in with Tessitura in enabling reward and incentive programs, as well as tracking of sales in patrons' accounts.
Sample scenario:
- Tessitura generates a bar-code for inclusion in an e-blast or a printed coupon that could be scanned at the bar for 10% off a food item or drink and vice versa,
- when you purchase a drink or food items from the bar, logs those purchases into your Tessitura account history.
I suspect/realize that unless each patron gets a unique bar code for from one another within each offer, it may not be possible to track the usage of the discount to their acct, unless they use a credit card or agree to share an identifier like phone #, name, email address. BUT, at minimum I would expect to be able to track usage of each incentive for analysis and future strategic planning.
Is customization necessary? Systems/software recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Michelle,
Thats a great question.
Have you had any progress on a solution?
thanks,
Dara
Hi Michelle & Dara,
Thanks to some tips & tricks from Jeff Cass at Chicago Shakespeare, I’ve managed to rig up Tess to serve as the inventory & sales management tool for our merchandise. Not nearly as sophisticated as what you’re looking for, but it works for our purposes. Feel free to give me a shout if you’d like more info on how I’m doing it.

I thought I’d add that if you do use Tessitura for you POS system, you can bar code and scan in just about anything. For details see the Bar Codes document.

We are also looking at setting up a POS system for Merchandise inside Tessitura. Is anyone willing to give me a few pointers on how to get started?
Thank you,
Sadie
Hi Kevin,
I know this is a very old post but I'm interested in learning more about using Tessitura as a POS including the barcodes you mention here. Is there any documentaton on the best practices for using Tessitura for a POS for gift shop merchandise sales. The bacode link in this old post is not working.
Hi Terry,
You can find the Bar Codes documentation referenced in that old post in the help system now: http://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System_v14/Content/Bar_Codes/Bar%20codes.htm That link will take you to the top topic in that section; click the Open topic in full help system link at the top of the page to see the TOC and the rest of the topics in that series.
In the intervening years the QuickSale interface was released, which might also be a good option for POS processing. Here’s a link to the QuickSale usage topic:

And here’s one to the QuickSale Setup topic:

Hi, interesting conversation but I’m not sure why I’m in it. Please remove me from this list.
Thanks,
