Does anyone have any experiance of creating gift vouchers through tessitura which can then be redeemed at either box office for tickets or over the cafe and bars for ancilary sales?
At the moment we are only able to allow customers to redeem vouchers against tickets.
Many Thanks
Richard
We sell Gift Cards that can be redeemed for tickets as well as at our store, for food, or for parking. However they aren't live in Tessitura. We sell them as a payment method (i.e. positive payment of Visa, negative payment of Gift Card Sold) and load them on a separate hypercom or website. We love being able to offer this to our patrons, but would love even more to have a way to sell and redeem them right out of Tessitura - we've submitted it as an enhancement request for the last couple years and it's definitely on our wish list for Next Gen as well!
We sell Gift Cards in a very similar way to what Kjersten has described. We were selling gift certificates directly through Tessitura, but have moved to the Gift Card route for greater flexibility, ie. redemption for drinks at our lobby bars and merchandise in our Theatre Shop, in addition to ticket sales. Also though, unfortunately these purchases are not captured in Tessitura, other than as a payment method if used for ticket sales. Currently our Gift Card sales are not online, only phone or in person at the moment. And any payments using the Gift Card are in person only.
I will second that Next Gen wish list for greater integration of this functionality!

Hi Richard,
We set up a "Fee" for merchandise and our Front of House staff settles gift card payments with the box office so that the card can be devalued in Tess. (Typically they settle the next business day since our box office closes a bit earlier.) The less elegant part is that Front of House has to write out a slip with the lengthy gift card number and sales details to give the box office, then calculate and hand write the remaining balance on the the gift card. Not that it is difficult, just time consuming during intermission.

We use the gift certificate facility on Tessitura - the amount "credited" can then be drawn on for tickets or anything else we sell through the box office ie cds (and other merchandise) - which we set up on Tessitura as a "performance"
