Entering Gift Memberships through Ticketing

Hi Everyone,

 

I'm looking for suggestions on how best to enter gift memberships (buyer and recipient are different) through the ticket order module...  Our box office just started taking memberships at the window but I'm not sure what might be the most efficient way to handle gifts.

 

Where do you record the gift recipient's info in the ticket order screen?  And how do you make sure that the development dept is aware that these memberships are gifts?

  • We've always found gift memberships to be problematic as well.  For many reasons (the purchaser didn't know the recipient's address or phone number, the purchaser didn't want notification to go out until a certain date, etc...) we switched to selling a gift card for the amount of a membership.  That way the recipient can redeem the gift card and activate the membership whenever they choose, allowing them to get full usage out of the membership (our memberships are good for one year from date of purchase).  It's worked quite well.  If you have any more specific questions let me know and I can try to answer or I can direct you to our membership manager.
