Hi there!
Is anyone using Group Entry by Order with NSCAN? Does anyone know if it is possible to create one PAHT for a group?
We are using NSCAN and want to utilize Group Entry by Order but we'd like to send the group a "ticket" to use as their check in. We would ideally like to process the order and then send a PAHT that provides a scannable order number with the order information. The group leader would then bring that in with their group and head straight to the Museum entrance instead of checking in at our box office first.
This will be handy for our school groups and large group arrivals (100+). Any feedback or experience with Group Entry by Order is appreciated.
Thank you!
We currently use a similar process, but we do not send the group anything. The guide / facilitator of the tour is in charge of reporting the order # and the quantity in the group at the time of entry, and then we use the Group Entry by Order to redeem the tickets. The one caveat is that all the tickets must be at the TPD status before they can be redeemed, so we generally print them to a "null printer" in order to not waste ticket stock.
The process works quite well for us!
We aren't using PAH, because our groups have timed tickets and have to check in with us to verify they aren't late, but we do use acknowledgements with the order # in Code 39 barcode format to expedite entry. For us, the groups check in, we produce a barcoded confirmation via mail merge, then print the order to a null printer.
There's no reason why you couldn't just email the confirmation to the client, then "issue" the tickets via a null printer prior to their arrival (before opening, for example). If anyone no-shows, they will display as unscanned tickets at the end of the day.
Our web team has also developed a version of this that can be emailed directly from the acknowledgements popup in Order Entry. It's my understanding that we're automatically generating code 128 barcodes that are saved as an image asset on AWS and grabbed by the confirmation when printed. Most of this is way above my head and obviously involves a good bit of customization. If you're interested, I can put you in contact with one of our web devs who may be able to demystify the whole process.
I would be very interested in knowing how you are grabbing the image on AWS and printing on the confirmation. I am trying to implement a barcode 128 on a group ticket acknowledgment in informaker and I am having issues with my n-scanner picking it up.
