Greetings - I've heard rumors that TessiTura can send text messages once certain VIP tickets are scanned. Does anyone know how to set this up. Thanks in advance for your help!
Kate:
This is done through the N-Scan “email notifications” feature that is part of the Monitor Attendance functionality. Text messages are sent as emails to a mobile phone number which is formatted as an email address; upon receipt it’s converted to a text message.
The basics are as follows (assuming you’re on N-Scan v6 and Tessitura 12x):
- On the Tessitura record of the constituent who wants to receive the text messages, you
o Add the attribute for either N-Scan Monitor List or N-Scan Monitor Constituency to identify the group of people you want to monitor. These attributes already exist if you have N-Scan; you’ll need to identify the right constituency or create your list before adding the attribute.
o Add an email address record to the monitoring constituent. In the email address field, enter the mobile phone number at which you want to receive texts, in the format [phone number] @ [carrier]. For example, if your phone number is 123-456-7890 and your mobile phone carrier is Verizon, this would be 1234567890@vtext.com. Different mobile phone carriers use different standards for the @carrier part of the address; you can find out from yours what theirs is.
o Add a Contact Point Purpose for N-Scan Messages to the email address in question. A contact point purpose called this (or something similar) will have been created when you installed N-Scan.
- Talk to your DBA (or RAMP if applicable) about adding a scheduled job to run the NP_SEND_EMAIL procedure; this sends the notifications generated by the scans. This procedure should be xcheduled to run continuously, every 5 minutes or so to ensure timely delivery of notifications.
Jonathan! Thanks so much for this very informative email. I will try it out!!
