ADD ON PRICING RULES DISASTER

Grateful if anyone can help me. The standard pricing rules set in Tess do not seem to be as flexibly as once thought.

The deal is, but two different qualifying items and receive 10% of the total order.

I have set-up an add on rule:

Criteria:

for an of these performances X at the standard price type apply the rule to any of these qualifying performances Y at the standard price type.

The problem with this rule is the that performances with rule applied will always have the amount deducted and therefore have a reflection of the overall income. Whilst the qualifying performances will never have 10% taken off which does not make sense. I need the 10% taken off both performances as they both qualify for 10% overall discount. Because of this I need to 20% price change in order to get the overall total down to 10% and thefore the performances with the rule applied will take even more of a hit on the overall money taken.

Is this making sense so far?

The only way I can think to get around this is to forget pricing rules and just do it the old fashion way...i.e. add the 10% to all performances and manually change the price type per seat. Otherwise using this the rule would also mean the I could pick up just one seat for a qualifying performance and then pick up 4 seats for the rule applied performance therefore getting a even better discount. Surely we need like for like? i.e. 2 tickets for X and 2 tickets for Y and therefore qualifying the 10% on all four tickets...like for like?

It seems a bit of an oversight in the world of pricing rules. They seem quite clunky with not enough "recipes" or scope to limit or specify in more detail.

Hopefully some one know what I am talking about and can help.

  • Hey David,

May you please advise whether you have submitted the enhancement request for the following:

    1. Both price types or the total order amount to be discounted by a value or percentage rather than single ticket price.

    2. Limit the offer to apply to as many X performances as Y performances selected (ie 1:1 ratio up to a certain number of tickets per order).

As this is also critical for us!

    Thank you,

    Monica

  • Monica many thanks for your reply. Reassuring that we are not the only users who would want such a change. I have not submitted such a request. Please go ahead.

    David

I've found the pricing rules extremely problematic, and VERY limited - we've never been able to use a pricing rule to deliver what we've wanted to since we moved to Tess, and the basic functionality we've had before with relation to offers and rules has had to be cobbled together by other means, including building new price types and having extremely messy ticket selection screens on our TNEW pages as a result. And always on the user to do the leg work in Tessitura, v frustrating!

David or Monica can I check whether either of you submitted this enhancement request?

    cheers
