OH MY!
So I am trying to get my head around the complicated world of pricing rules.
Aside from the fact that there are not enough "recipes" in pricing rules options that can be used with out entering into the world of packages and Performance Groups...can anyone help me?
I want to set-up a rule whereby if a certain price type is selected you then access another price type. i.e. without a specific price type being in the basket the rule will not allow you to add another different price type to basket / same order number.
Does Tessitura not like users to sort by performance dates? Like all the listed dates in the packages part of Tessitura, dates can't be sorted Pricing Rules 'Product Chooser'....they are only displayed numerically which to be honest it not very helpful. Other parts of Tessitura can be searched and listed in chronological order e.g. Season Manager but clearly not in these areas? Why not? Sure a wee bit of consistency might be useful and certainly helpful to users.
Look forward to any replies.
Hi David,
Sounds like something similar that i'd like to do with pricing rules, at Cheltenham Festivals we have some events where we require an adult to attend with every child, but adults are fine to attend by themselves without a child.
So we basically only want child prices to be available when an adult ticket exists in an order (as we've had instances of people only buying tickets for the child and either thinking they can leave them there on their own, or just stay without paying for their own ticket) - at the moment we don't have a solution to it either - but it would be one we would like to see in future Tessitura pricing rules developments....
Wouldn’t the “Add on Rule” work for both of these?
All of our Event codes include the date so I had never noticed that they don’t show up in date order. Very interesting. Date sort would be a nice feature.

But what is the 'Action'?
Price Change? Price Type Change? Message only.
I need to make them buy a wheelchair position ticket in order to access the Wheelchair Companion seat.
Thanks for replying Nicole

So I just messed with it a bit in Test.
If you do a BOGO Rule Type and say that for every 1 at Wheelchair Price Type apply the rule that 1 of those seats goes to the new Price Type of Companion it will switch the Price Type on the second ticket to be Companion if you originally had 2 Wheelchair Price Types.
Pricing Rules won’t add stuff to your cart it will just switch the Price Type of things you select based on those rules.

It really depends on how you have Wheelchair and Companion seats set up. For us Wheelchair and Companion seats are Holds and Seat Types not Price Types so we use a service interceptor to open the holds and they are the same Price Types as everyone else. If you are selling them as different Price Types you could use the Add On Price Rule so that if someone selects Wheelchair Price Type Companion Price Type would then become available for them in that order. This scenario seems like a BOGO except the free ticket is instead a Companion ticket.
Does that help?
If you use Holds instead of Price Types I did a piece at conference about it a few years ago and could share some code with you if it seems appealing.
Let me know!
