  • Interested in this as well. We use OpenTable, but don't have any communication between it and Tessitura.

I've thought about the possibilities of doing this in Tessitura alone, but realized that there's a bit of a fundamental difference  — a reservation system keeps track of turn times, so you know when you can (for example) reserve a second party for dinner at one table later in the evening.

Actually, that would be most similar to a "resource scheduling" model like what we have coming in version 14... perhaps that functionality could be leveraged for table reservations in the future.

  • Hi Steve,

We book tables at all of our restaurants via Tessitura. We don't actually have all the tables mapped out, but rather our caterers give us the number of available spaces per time slot.

We then have these available in Tessitura for customers to either book via our website or our call centre. Our caterers have regular reports (variations of the Seating Book) sent to them and then they are responsible for allocating tables.

I'd be happy to share screen shots of how this all works set up wise if it would help.

  • We are interested in this. We use Tessitura to sell dinners currently but our reps then have to reserve the table in Open Table for our restaurant.

Our general manager does not want to give up the Open Table side because it is a promotional tool for the restaurant for the non-theatre crowd for their big events like Thanksgiving and Mother's day.

  • We just started doing reservations for our cafe.  We built the cafe as a facility, mapping out all of the tables, and then built a "performance" for every night that we offer our dinner reservations.  We don't turn tables as we only offer this service pre-show, so we don't have to worry about multiple reservations for one table.  I'm not sure how you would achieve that.

We book one of our onsite restaurants using Tessitura. We have several reservation times pre-show and use holds to control inventory. We use a service interceptor to kill the extra seats at a table. I did a presentation on it a few years ago at conference in a Service Interceptor session.

  • Hi Steve,

I investigated this for SOH awhile back and found several organizations that have restaurant booking integrated into Tessitura or the website booking path in various capacities.  In addition to Royal Albert Hall which Caryl already mentioned on this forum thread already I found:

    Hope this helps,

  • Thanks everyone for your really quick responses.  Very interesting points.  I'll be in touch :-)
