Hi,
We've just upgraded out Test system to V.12.5 and i am getting into the Pricing Rules set up. Does anyone have any advice regarding strategies for setting up the Pricing Rules Category System Table? documentation is a little vague on the purpose of segmenting into different categories.
Thanks!
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for this explanation. I think you are right: we don’t really employ control groups here, but I can see how we might want to use the categories for reporting.
Best wishes,
Don

Don:
A practical reason, but one which may not apply to your situation, is that pricing rule categories are where control groups are applied. So if you want to segregate and filter the available pricing rules by (for example) different organizations in a consortium, or if you filter access to ticketing data between different departments, then pricing rule categories allow you to do that.
If control-grouping is not a concern, then the other rationale for grouping (and which may inform how you group) is reporting. In the Rule Statistics report, for example, there’s a parameter for which rule categories to include. So if your rules are grouped by Box Office, Web and Group Sales categories, then you can choose to only show the impact of the Web rules.
